Also, is that Windows 10 32 or 64 bit ?
It's a ASUS G75VW-DS72, running windows 10 64 bit. Its processor is a Core i7 3610QM
EDIT..If you see this in time, please ignore this post above this edit.
So this was an upgrade to W10 then ?

And no drivers for W10 in the drop here. Only as far as W 8.1, if I have the exact computer here of course....

Daamn, I guess that's a thing. But the W10 installation went smoothly, and steam is basically the only thing I'm having issues with. Shouldn't I be able to do something in order to troubleshoot what's going on? Like, steam is literally the only thing I'm having compatibility issues with.
uTorrent
CCleaner (monitoring mode probably)
Skype
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

Skype has also just been installed, I had the same problem before its installation.
I'll uninstall them all anyway, and I will try running steam again. Thanks for your help, i'll be back to post the results shortly.
Boot your PC into safe mode with networking. It has to be with networking enabled. Launch Steam (as long as the Steam files are healthy of course) in this safe boot, and try to log into your account. Notice any changes you see and reply with that next, please.
Hey. After uninstalling the 4 programs mentioned, I tried installing steam, no sucess.
Booted into safe mode with networking on. There I was able to install steam, update and login without any problem. Back to normal boot, with steam already installed, it went back to square one: Double click, nothing, explorer.exe constantly at high usage.
So looks like there's some driver conflict or something going around. This is very weird for me, since I had exactly the same programs I have now, even more, back when I was using windows 8.1, and never had any problem of this kind.
Any idea about what I should do next, other than trying to uninstall a couple more programs that are possibly conflicting and checking? Or is this just about the best to do right now?
I would do this...
Do a clean restart of your PC into normal Windows. Let the computer fully boot up, giving plenty of time for all processes to start and be fully running.
Go to WIndows start and click it and type msconfig and run that and go to the services tab and "hide all Microsoft services" and post screenshots of all that is left.
I recommend you turn that off when possible and always launch Steam manually after you computer fully boots up. Just don't forget that you have that disabled as of now, as you will need to undo that momentarily.
Steam then settings then interface, from the top left of the client. Top box is "run Steam when My computer starts." Make sure that is not checked.
Here's the services screenshot:

Any Epson process
MalwareBytes should not be a problem, but keep an eye on it for now.
TeamViewer 11
VIA Digital Mixer
These are ones I would be concerned with. You don't need them when you game or at all depending, so disable them and test this again.
You can also do this.......I prefer uninstalling over disabling, but this is up to you. You have already proven Steam works in safe mode with networking, so we need to simply find the conflict in normal Windows and get rid of it.
