Sorry about all the spam here, but can you please post your operating system and if that OS is 32 or 64 bit ?

What is your antivirus program ?

Are you using a router at all or any wireless connectivity on your network ?

It is a home network, right ?

windows 8.1 64bit, i had mcaffee but I looked into it and apparently that can interfere with things so i uninstalled it, im using comodo atm. BTW uninstalling mcaffee didnt help
Everything is wirelessly connected to the modem
yes home network

Comodo is almost surely your issue. Users report that not long ago, comodo locked itself out of its own website.

Besides, it is on this list...

Check the rest of that list carefully also, please.

just turned off comodo and still the same problem. Might I mention that CSGO updated today and everything was fine till I updated csgo. I also reinstalled steam and csgo and again the same problem, I'm literally scratching my head at this point

"Turned off" is not always good enought, especially with security software. Fully uninstall anything on that list and reboot your computer. Reinstalling Steam is not going to do anything, as Steam is not the problem. The problem is the conflict with Steam.

Easy test as long as your connection does not need resetting....

Boot your computer into safe mode with networking enabled. It MUST be with networking. Try to log into Steam on the client only in that safe boot using your account. See if you notice improvement.

Also, I suggest using ethernet only and not the router. At least for now...see this below...

Hey, that is great. It can sometimes cloud one's judgement, when the error happens but new conflicts can come up when you least expect them to.

Thanks for the kind words and your reply on what you did to solve it. Good luck to you always !!
