Bypass Steam
Some games I downloaded with steam can be played without having to be started with steam. How can I bypass steam on all the games I downloaded and not just some?

You can't. Steam as a DRM is optional for developers. Some have decided not to use it, most have.

Some games require Steam to run; others don't.

Doesn't have issues for me on Windows 10 AE x64 & latest Steam Client Beta

Have you refreshed the client's files? Have anything that could possibly interfere with the client's behavior? Anything apparent that could've changed since your issues started?

Define 'messes up the games' ?

I'm always in a constant struggle with steam to get control of my computer back. I would just like to get away with launching games without steam.

That won't happen with games that utilize Steamworks DRM.

Then just don't buy games that require Steam, or fix the problems on your end. Steam works fine for literally millions of users. So the chance that the problem is caused on your end is pretty high.

Whenever I log out of Ark: Survival Evolved the steam client bootstrapper goes off the deep end using all the cpu. Don't tell me this isn't a steam issue. It is most definitely a steam issue, specifically a me wanting to play my games without steam issue.

I can't believe people are defending bloatware these days.

I bought the game, not a license to use it from steam.

No, you did not buy the game, you really bought just a license. You always only buy a license for a software, never the software itself.
This also includes your Windows, and any other software you ever bought.

By the way, maybe you should look up the meaning of the word bloatware.

Thanks for making me regret buying any game ever.

Considering not everyone has this CPU issue with Steam, I'd focus on what makes it occur to you and not with others.

Instead of regretting over the past, you could try to make the situation the most appealing - to the point you can compromise with having to have Steam on while playing those select games.

But, it's really your choice to make.

I have done this with BeamNG, there are 2 ways, one is to navigate the files and find a clearly labeled button that has the name of the game on it, since it doesn't open through steam, you can play the game without a license, though I should probably stop doing this before I get my account banned

Many titles on Steam can be played without Steam. Basically every CDPR game does this because zero DRM.

:nkCool:

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
