"Content Servers Unreachable" (FIXED) (GONE BULLGUARD) (GONE ANTIVIRUS)
Im in the UK, London, and I cannot update any of my games, they are all filtered into the "Update required, not qeued" section in my manage downloads. Whenever I click them to update I get the message that the "Content Servers are Unreachable". I use bullguard and I cant find anything to do with steam in my quarenteen and ive done a full system scan (NO errors), I can still play my up to date games but I cant update any of the others. Anyone know what I should do? Its only started today so should I just wait?

Bullguard appear to have (erroneously) blacklisted cs.steamcontent.com as a malicious, ID stealing site (if you try and browse to it, you'll be notified , but naturally the Steam client cannot recognize or deal with that notification. I've sent a request to Bullguard to unblock the site, but I have no idea how long it takes them to review such requests and to action them

Not only BullGuard, but Steam too. Looks malicious after all.
Nah, that's just standard Steam forum action, erring on the side of safety. The link is was [removed]. It isn't malicious, it is the Steam content servers ... if they are blocked then you won't get any content ...

I suggest that you edit that out of your last post. We are not supposed to bypass filters here. That can get us into trouble.
I just spoke to someone on Bullguard live chat. They are aware of the issue and advised me to turn off Safe Browsing, as mentioned. He said it is a known issue and an update to fix the issue should be out sometime this week. In the meantime he suggested to leave safe browsing turned off.
Thank the God for you guys! I just spent most of the night being frustrated because I tried everything and nothing worked. It was Bullguard in the end. Too bad I've already sent out like 5 support requests..... a bunch of confused customer support guys are going to find this in the morning...... Anyway thank you guys so much, man. The steam community's the best.

Please, don't forget to close all those tickets. And remember, the issue is almost never with Steam. The issue is almost always on your computer that caused the problem with Steam.
Same problem with me it was driving me nuts 😠 I do have bull guard so I will try you guys solution when I get home hope it works.
It works, trust us :P
omg. its been hours and finally i got onto this thread. Disabled Safe browsing and all is well.
cheers all
Oh.. its bullguard.
So pleased to have found this discussion - this was driving me nuts yesterday (I'm a Bullguard user too). At work now, but will try this when I get home, and will post to confirm if it resolves my problem.
Looks like it's been addressed. Got home and everything's working fine - didn't have to mess with BG at all.

Thank you to those of you that raised this with them.

That is actually great news. As you can see, you have a software conflict with Steam in a normal boot of Windows.

BullGuard is surely one possibility but there can be others also, and that is why you are not seeing results from your steps there with BullGuard. This makes sense.

Start with this list. Read it all very carefully please.

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289

EDIT..Also, after you do a fresh restart of your PC, click start in Windows and type in msconfig and run that and then go to the services tab and then "hide all Microsoft services". See what is left running or at all in that list and look closely at all those processes.

Great, thanks for the help! I'll give that a bash tommorow and report back here if I find a culprit. Maybe someone else could benefit from whatever I find too.

Yeah, there was no intersection of active services with the list of conflicting software. The latest Bullguard update also fixed it for me.

Anyway, still good to know that even if you shut down bullguard (with fresh reboot and no autolaunch), it still has some processes running in the background!
