Does Steam read refund notes?
Wasted couple of hours (which counted as playtime) trying to run an EA game on the Steam Deck (because of their recent update to the launcher) only to play about an hour and not being able to launch it again since.

It’s not about money (game in question was heavily discounted), but a matter of principle. I don't want EA to gain even single cent of mine. Their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business ethics must be punished.

This is basically what I wrote in the notes section of the refund, but all I get back is that the refund was declined due to my playtime being over 2 hrs.

Do I have any chances to get a refund? (l'Il take a resolution where the money simply goes to Gabe's personal account instead of EA's)

Choose "I still have a question..."

Explain the entire issue carefully.

Hope for a different answer but don't be surprised if you are denied again.

If you want them to read it, you have to submit a manual refund.

Here's the actual source (Reddit is the second detour for this news): https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Changelog

That's it! Thanks for the link.

Also, that Atelier Meruru news is going to make some people very happy.

Thank you! They were kind enough to offer the refund considering the circumstances.

For someone in similar situation: It took a couple of days to receive the initial reply and a couple more for the refund to be processed.

Just to be clear here (and not necessarily for you in particular) here's how it generally works.

The first attempt to refund is AUTOMATED. It only really checks for that 2 hours and 14 days threshold and that's it. If it fails, you don't get refunded.

THen you need to do the MANUAL ticket and explain your case.

So in short, the first one ain't read because a human doesn't deal with it.

Note “I didn’t get what I wanted” does not mean “they didn’t read your incoherent essay as to why you deserve a refund you aren’t entitled to”
