still steam doesn't know our problems?or are they making themselves blind with this issue?Hoping that steam already read this thread or already know this issue.

Hello Everybody in this thread. I myself have had this issue since black friday. Even after I cooy the steamwebhelper from the default location to the bin directory, the event viewer error will disappear but when I attempt to click on my steam library to view my games, steam crashes right away...

I was on Windows 7 and then I did a fresh install of WIndows 10 and tried Steam and I got the same error. After copying the webhelper to the bin directory I click on library and games and presto steam crashes, When I launch steam again it verifies the install and when I try to click on library still crashes.

Also having this same issue with my laptop as well ( running win 7)

but when I try steam on my wife's laptop I have no issues at all...... ( windows 8)

I simply don't get this one bit.

I have tried everything from this forum. I just want to be able to play games again!

I am on the latest build number on all 3 of my PCs/Laptops.

Ive already tried uninstalling and reinstalling and everything to this degree. I certainly doing a fresh windows install would solve my issues.... but nope.....

Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

For Windows 7 and up, try copy/pasting to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\cef\cef.win7

You may need to create the folders cef\cef.win7 in the folder bin.
lol this error crashes my computer
I tried renaming the cef.winxp to cef.win7. when I login to steam it repairs the installation and creates the cef.winxp folder again. Tried library and it keeps crashing

Also tried a netsh winsock reset and reboot my PC and steam library still crashes

Also tried steam://flushconfig from another thread and still my library crashes....

This is beyond frustrating as I don't understand how it didn't work on my windows 7 or newly imaged windows 10 but yet on my wife's laptop my account and the steam library works without any issues....
Has anyone in the thread considered moving Steam from under UAC or maybe disabling UAC temporarily to test this ?

Just disabled UAC on my PC and still crashes as soon as you click on the library to view the games installed.....

Post the model number and model of this computer exactly. If custom built, post the exact motherboard instead, please.
AMD FX-8350 CPU
16GB RAM
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
OS is on a SSD

I also tried installing Steam on the SSD and still crashing in the library
Also tried installing Steam on 1 of my physical Drives and same thing.....

Problem started just before black friday and haven't had my library working since!

Steam Support hasn't gotten back to me either.....

Thanks so much for your time and help. Let me know if you need any other information :)

You are welcome, and I hope you excuse me if I cover anything already mentioned.

There are several revisions for that board. Go here, please......

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894#dl

Look to the right of the number there and click on the revision number for your board. Drop the menu and select Windows 10 (32 or 64 bit ? You did not post your complete OS yet).

Then, make sure all device drivers are fully up to date for that board. Download them and install them and don't use Windows update for that, please.
I have already updated my drivers for the motherboard. I am not sure what revision I have. Can't find that clearly but the drivers seems to all be the same... I am a computer tech by trade but this I can't figure out for the life of me!

Running Windows 10 X64 Pro Anniversary Update.... Not sure where to find the build number though.... I never use windows updates for drivers either.

How can you have updated the drivers for the board from the official Gigabyte website ONLY if you don't know the revision number of the board ?

Yes, they may be the same in some cases, but you should be sure.
I'm having the same issues here as well...

Anyone know anything new?

As a temporary workaround ; copy the one located there :

"insert correct path"\Steam\bin\cef\cef.winxp\

to

"insert correct path"\Steam\bin\

i hope Valve will fix this issue, it's annoying.

actually the steamwebhelper.exe is used, but it's located in the first directory i mentionned (if you don't trust me open the task manager and select one of steamwebhelper.exe process)

however for some reasons the client want to add a firewall exception for a file which is no more there (second path) .

The issue is not from any user configuation (i think) , since i tried aswell on a PC which never have Steam installed before.

i suspect an issue with the last update too.

this is just to avoid the event log errors & having a valid firewall rule which is cleared if you run a tool such as ccleaner and don't paid attention (it's doesn't really fix the issue, it's Valve's job, not mine)
This does work as a fix, but if your doing this, you may be doing it wrong..

key thing was "insert correct path"\Steam\bin\cef\cef.winxp\"
the slash at the end
in plain english, copy all the files INSIDE of the "cef.winxp" folder to the insert correct path"\Steam\bin\" folder
Do not just copy the cef.winxp folder its self to the bin folder,

Once again
you need the contents inside of the cef.winxp folder added to the bin folder, not the actual cef.winxp folder

Doing it this way fixed my problem and i was able to run the repair on the steamservice
