Looks like they've got a lot of fancy gamepads. Which one did you buy?
You could also go the easy route & remap this thing from the desktop on the Deck. I did that with an 8BitDo one exposing the right trigger as a button for whatever reason. Remapped, problem solved.
There's no mode switch that I can find. Even after remapping it, the games still read it as a switch pro controller and will prompt you to press b or y instead of a or b.

Doesn't matter how it looks, they built it for the switch.
Many third party controllers are emulating or copying other controllers. Wouldn't be surprised if this controller uses the Nintendo Switch as a basis, which is why you're seeing it as thus.

After that you turn on/off as normal.
