Whenever I try to open up Fifa 22 on steam it says there is a "Steam - Error" and "Please exit any running games or tools before attempting to verify your local files." I don't have anything opened on my computer other than steam and I've restarted multiple times. pls help.

same issue, asks to validate files which ive done multiple times and still get the error please exit any running games or tools

It's always best to ask in the game's forum instead of in a general discussion section. Top right-hand corner of its Steam Store page -> Community Hub -> Discussions.

There's a few issues that can cause this.

Typically the one I have had with Origina games is some sort of hiccup with communication between it and Steam.

In which case, you can close Origin and make sure it's not running in the background at all (check Task Manager). When you've done that, open Origin on it's own without touching Steam.

Sign in anew, and if there's any updates or anything, let it do it's thing. Once it's signed in, then you can try launching your game through steam.

If that doesn't work check your antivirus or security software to make sure nothing blocking Origin or steam related.

If it still fails you can always try uninstalling Origin and reinstalling, do the login thing above and go from there.

I had this problem. I went to Add/Remove programmes on Windows and uninstalled Origin. I then went back into Steam and pressed 'Play' on FIFA 22, it then gave me an Origin popup asking me to install the latest version. I did that and now it works :)
