Steam still not working still need help!
the steam app on my pc Is still not working. It will display nothing but a black screen.
If you want to know what I tried:

1.restarting steam
2.restarting my computer
3.Updating steam
4.going into offline mode and going back into online mode

all to the extent of "turn it off and on"
nothing has worked.

also I used steam big picture mode and it broke my fingerprint scanner. I was able to fix that but not steam.

Try doing steam flush config. Check here for more info on how to do it:

A steamflush will reset your steam to original version. This means alot of your current settings will also reset, and you will have to redownload all the updates. Good luck fixing it.

Delete Steam's web cache and restart Steam

Is there a way to do that outside of steam? I know how to do that inside steam, but this person cannot even load up steam.

Plus the steam flush config also tends to delete the cache's automatically.

never mind

I'm having the same problem. I was able to "break through" a few times, but no single action that i tried has work more than once so far, so my money is on method #3.

1) press command-R (probably ctrl-R in Windows)
2) check for updates -- on a Mac, this is available under "Steam" menu on the OS menu bar
3) be patient (wait)

I haven't tried #2 more than once yet.

Edit: sorry, you posted "never mind" while i was typing :)
