Slow download speed on steam
hey. im having some issues with my download speed here on steam. i've just gotten myself a 750/750 line and while on epic games and uplay/ubisoft connect i get easy 60-70 Mb/s download speed, but as soon as i switch to steam it barely wants to go over 10 Mb/s and usally it drops down alot and a little back up untill it breaks the conecction completely.

has anyone here had simmilar issues that they found a fix for :)

steam can obliterate your download connection

your download speed is limited by

1) your CPU
2) your disk IO
3) your anti-virus killing disk IO perfromance
4) your ISP
As Satoru rightly points out, it works a bit diffrently here on Steam.

As all games are both compressed and encrypted you first must allow up to THREE times the total file size for your download. If you don't do that then it will slow down for a start.

Also, because of this, it means that I/O, RAM, CPU, hard drive et al get hit so not just your net connection.

You can look at the downloads page on steam and monitor what the graphs are doing at any time, and compare that with Windows Task Manager. View which resources are being hit while you're downlading. Most of the time you will see one or moere of your resrouces being hit harder than the others, which will show you where the bottleneck lies.
Your best bet is to just download things faster. When you go to download a game just click the download button really quickly letting your intentions be known to steam. This almost never works but that hasn't stopped me from eating my hamburgers close to raw.
