Games Freezing When Clicking
I downloaded Dead Space 2 recently and, when I got to the main menu, whenever I would click my mouse or press a button the game would freeze. I figured since DS1 was so buggy that it was just a problem with the game. After trying a few fixes to no avail I gave up.

After that I switched up and decided to play MGR instead. It also had the same problem. Went to play HROT, same problem. MGSV, same problem.

After plunging forums for answers I decided to buy HROT on GOG and test to see if it was a Steam issue. No issues on GOG so it's definitely a Steam issue.

Any ideas?

EDIT: This is now happening with TIS-100. This is starting to get ridiculous. Is there any way I can contact Steam Support directly? Their help section doesn't have any option for the issue I'm having.

First port of call, check your Antivirus suite to see if it's decided to block any game realted or Steam related. This is quite common. If it has, make exception for it.

Check other utiltiies like those provided by the manufacturer of your PC. These can be eqaually notorious for such issues.

If things still persist, you can try this, but note it will NOT run your games properly or might not at all. It's purely for testing purposes.

Start Windows in Safe Mode with networking. Run STeam and the game you wish ONLY. If it gets further than before and tries to run (as it won't be able to run properly) then this would indicate that it IS some program on your PC causing the problems and then it's down to trying to work out what that is.

Did anything change at all in any behaviour?

Maybe take longer to crash or whatever?

Nope. When I use the shortcut on my desktop my mouse starts to pinwheel, the game starts, then I try and click or press a button and the game freezes for a second, then back to normal.
Also, when the game freezes the audio clips.

Dunno, but good luck.

That definitely sounds suspiciously like something either blocking access to the game, like your antivirus quarantining something realted to steam or the game(s), or some harrdware issue.

I don't exactly know where to go forward from this if safe mode with networking didn't bring up any changes.

I just have windows defender. No other Anti-Virus. Plus I made an exclusion for all the folders where I keep my Steam games.
