I just saw someone on reddit, so it got me thinking, i doubt logging into the steam client will give my data away
umm..it is kinda late for that..signing the TOS for steam basically allows them to give your info out. Did you even read the TOS? Apparently, since your logging into steam, you have a steam account, so you already agreed to giving your info out. Funny how people do not read the TOS about stuff like this, and think logging into steam there worried about info leaking, when it is done already since you own steam on your pc..
