games wont load
I have a bunch of purchased games on my account that I play regularly, but decided to wipe my PC and reload Windows 10. After I reinstalled Steam and my games, several will not launch, and it just so happens that the ones having the issues are the games I play the most. I have disabled my AV and Firewall and dont have much running in the background. It comes up with the initial launch screen where I have to hit the "play" button, then I hit it and it changes to "stop" for about 15-20 seconds and then goes back to "play" and nothing happens. Its not all games, just the ones I care about the most like Skyrim SE and a couple others, which is very frustrating and apparently there is no way to contact Steam support. Any ideas on what to do to fix it? Been trying to get in these games for about a week now with no luck.

Did you make sure that the OS you've installed is 64 bit and not 32 bit?

Did you make sure that, after installing w10, your computer recognizes that you have a video card on it, and not just using the onboard graphics chipset on the motherboard?

This isn't Steam's issue: everyone else is most certainly playing their games just fine. Your computer, just having been 'wiped and reinstalled' absolutely is the issue. So understanding what you have and haven't done will go a long way to figuring this out.

Pleaes post the full system specs found on HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION here.
I made sure the system recognized my GPU. it is using the GTX1070. When I upgraded my 256GB SSD to a 1TB SSD awhile back the imaging software just made it a 256GB partiion for C and the rest was another partition. when I wiped my PC I cleared the partition table and allocated the entire tb to C, then I put the bootable USB i created with the installer and loaded Windows as vanilla then updates and added Steam along with a few apps I needed like AV and Angry IP and a few other apps. I made sure the GPU was active and installed some of my games. Most worked but OWW and Skyrim wouldnt load. I uninstalled the games and reloaded, but still same issue. Removed Steam and reloaded, same issue. I just finished installing a new game and that works fine. I tried starting as admin, same thing so I disabled AV and firewall and still nothing.

anyone know what else i can try?
Do you use MSI Afterburner and/or RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS)?

I have encountered an issue with RTSS that caused certain games equipped with anti-cheat systems to not load. You can read my post here: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/3356799628317180624/

The onboard graphics should not even be allowed on, if you have a card then disable that onboard chipset.

You might try manually rolling back the graphics drivers for that NVidia card, and not use the Experience if at all possible as it's often more trouble than its worth (though I don't know whether you are using it).
Zekiran,

yep, disabling the onboard chipset did the trick! you are awesome. Thank you so much!!:steamhappy:

Even with a disabled AV, that is not good enough for some of them. They can still have background processes that still run, even if the parent is disabled.

Also, there can be other software that can cause game launch issues :

If the game's won't launch, after clicking on "play", ignore the title of this page and follow everything here :

EDIT...Sorry, I missed your last post. Good to see you fixed it.

Oh good! :D

Sometimes Windows 10 just up and forgets that there's a video card. Whenever there's an OS update for it, I *highly* recommend making SURE that the onboard is disabled ... again.

You are right. It's what I hate the most about W10 and automatic driver updates.

Windows 10 is like a cat.

Every day they walk over the same patch of carpet.

And then THERE IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND NEW OMG MUST SMELL EVERY INCH OF IT WHAT IS THIS THING.
HAHAHA!!!!
