Eh, Gus and me butt heads now and then but I believe there's no bad blood between us.
As of now, game details are private by default.
Newer users are not aware of this.
Some of them never check their privacy settings or sporadically have interest in doing so.
Exactly, kinda makes it difficult to tell if someone suspicious has over 2000 hours in a game or just got that one game and is cheating now-a-days.
FWIW, GOG's recent profile thing defaults to showing one's games. (And they're literally actually European, even, so you can't point to the GDPR.)
While game-play has no direct correlation with that (or minimal); if you come across suspected cheaters — ensure to report them whilst in-game.
people would base peoples skill off of their hours a lot, how many games they have, calling people a smurf because they installed steam for the one game they wanted to play
its better for the people new on steam, if you want any game information from people just ask them or add them
I was joking, geez, why does nobody ever notice when I do sarcasm?
Hours do matter a whole lot, I'm supposed to expect someone who freshly installed a game and is abosolutely destroying everyone else isn't suspicious? Adding people is a tedious process, they may or may not accept the request, and besides I just want to quickly check something. And asking people has two main drawbacks: 1.) They can lie about it, and 2.) I live in Europe, we got about 20 different larger languages, and a lot of people don't speak english, and I don't speak each and every one of those.
