for number 1, images of everything, as in everything installed on my computer?

For Windows 10, no, just the apps. All the programs you have installed on the PC should be listed under "apps".

Also, the thread advanced to a new page, so you might have missed my last post. Please see that also.

real quick as well, wreckfest just finished installing and that works so it could just be something to do with the other games
You have a very nice PC so I am going to go ahead and think it should run just about any game out there for PC, this is yet another reason I suspect a software conflict with the games.

And you still might have to go into the files to run redist. packages manually. From your answer before, it sounded like you did not have exceptions in the processes you mentioned (Super AntiSpyware and Avast), and if you did not, damage might have already been done to the game files that verifying might not completely resolve.

This is all just theory as of now, but then again, it still leaves open the possibility that you still have a software conflict elsewhere, and not just with those two programs you listed.

As you may know, there is such a thing as having "too much" security on a gaming PC.
yeah i saw this post and i agree with the too much security idea
Wow, I have not seen such a big list in a long time. The more processes you have, the more likely there is a conflict somewhere.

---------------------

From number one, I see a McAfee WebAdvisor program. Anything McAfee terrifies me when I see it on a gaming machine. Consider it suspect, if it ever is running when you game.

Also, LogMeInHamachi. This program has been seen in the past to cause issues with Steam and/or games. Consider it also suspect.

BitTorrent. This is a huge one, and a known issue with Steam. It is covered on the support page that was linked earlier.

Avast. This needs to be leaving Steam and games alone all the time, in real time scanning. Very important.

Cheat Engine. This is a known possible issue with some Steam games. It might be suspect to the problem.

-------------------

From number 2 :

McAfee WebAdvisor. Yep, there it is. Another suspect to your issue.

Avast. We covered this one. All of those processes there should be looked at closely. Avast needs to be leaving Steam and games totally alone in real time scanning. Honestly, that is way too many processes for my comfort, if this was my gaming PC.

But Avast "should" be configurable to be ok with Steam and games.

Yep, there are the two LogMeInHamachi processes in the msconfig shots. Those are also suspect, possibly. Especially the "guardian" one.

https://imgur.com/GYmNDHH

And these are mirrored in the last link, of course. Honestly, that is a LOT of software to be installed on a gaming PC. I could be totally wrong, and it could be something else. But again, it's an awful lot of software that some of which can be suspect to your problems.

ok so what i might do is delete everything i dont need. For example, hamachi i do not need anymore so that can go, this is the same with mcafee and avast tbh i dont actually need them at all so i might just delete them all
So make sure by "delete" you mean uninstall, please.

Then, reboot your PC after you uninstall a program, then verify the game files for an easy game your PC should have no issue running, but where you see this launching problem. Then, test the game from your Steam library "PLAY" button only.

Don't use any shortcuts. Just use the play button.

EDIT..............

Sorry, forgot to mention. Sometimes, these processes "don't like" to be uninstalled. That can further show how bad they are.

For example, if you need to, you might have to use this to get rid of McAfee processes :

McAfee Product Removal Tool

all are uninstalled but still no difference the game still just opened and closed
But did you do the rest of the steps exactly as outlined ?

Reboot, verify the game files and then test one game with this issue ?

What game did you test it with ? Try to use a game that is just a straight up game without VR support or anything. Just a plain game that your PC should run just fine. Use that as an example that we can troubleshoot with.
i did all the steps exactly, i used city driving sim as the game. Did you want me to use a game that is allready installed or one that i can install and try on

A game that does not have VR support would be a better choice, really. Yes, that game said it does not need VR hardware and can be ran without VR, but just in case, a plain Jane game, so to speak would be better to test this with.

Sorry I have to ask this, but what all exactly did you uninstall ? You need to look back in msconfig to be sure all those processes we talked about are no longer an issue.

I want to stress again, that I might be wrong about all this, but everything I have told you so far has been seen in the past to possibly be an issue with games running such as you have now.

If you see the game actually launch, then it closes down after a second or two, that is a pretty good indication that something is causing the game to close down, such as a software conflict.

EDIT............

Hope you don't mind but I thought of a few other possibly relevant questions that might help :

Is your GPU an ASUS 1080Ti ? Because I see, if my info is right, that this is an MSI board, but there are several ASUS processes in the msconfig shots.

Are you sure all drivers and the OS (Windows) are fully up to date ? Not just the GPU drivers, but all system drivers ? (see link below)

Is this your exact motherboard ?

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X399-GAMING-PRO-CARBON-AC#down-driver&Win10%2064

If not, can you link me the right board, please ?

This was a fresh and clean installation of Windows 10 on this system, right ?

Or did you purchase this system with Windows 10 already on it ?

I see a couple of "LINK REMOVED" on your profile comments, so you did not by chance click any suspicious links recently, in chat or comments otherwise ?

When was the last time you scanned your system for malware ? Not with just antivirus, but something good such as Malwarebytes ?

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

It's best to use safe mode in Windows to scan, and scan as intensively as possible, using all options available in the scan menu settings. You can use your antivirus in this way also, if you wish, but at least use Malwarebytes.

I recently had a similar issue so figured I would post how I ended up fixing it:

Background -
Steam games would not run, I would click play and they would fail to open with no error message. The "Play" button would go from "Stop" back to "Play" on any game I tried to open

I had recently installed an older version of a VM application

I suspect that the older program had changed which c++ redistributable version steam was using.

Fix-
go to "add or remove programs" - search "c++" uninstall anything older than 2015-2019 x64 and x86 (I no longer needed older versions). Then for both click "modify", and "repair" on the popup prompt. (You can also go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 to download the latest versions).

And that was it! First try, the games opened up.
Hope this helps someone else.
