Windows 10 Wheel Setup Issue
Howdy all,
recently purchased rFactor 1 but it won't recognize my wheel for calibration.

I use a ECCI Trackstar 6000GTS so there is no manufacturer software to apply, it's "supposed" to work with windows drivers.

I have run this game years ago without issue but that was in Windows XP Pro. I am now in Windows 10 & I believe that is where the issue lies.

When I try to calibrate in Windows it seems to show as a joystick or handheld game controller. It does not show the appropriate axis settings for wheel, throttle, etc.

This old guy just wants to have some fun.
Does anyone out there know of a fix?

Thanks much,
Gordon

About all you can do for a fringe controller like that is google the name of it and hope that someone has some custom driver or something for it.

Thanks for the tip crunchyfrog, I'm hoping that someone here will recognize the issue.

I read the manual so get what you're describing. Are the inputs, at least, being read in Game Controllers?

Got the correct cables? Device shows up with correct name? (am looking at this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/ihzhzy/ecci_6000gts_drivers/ and the OP's conclusion)

If you go to Devices and Printers > right-click the wheel > Properties > Hardware tab. What drivers does it say it's using? HID-compliant game controller?

Hi Roo
I do have the correct cables.
Yes it shows as HID-compliant game controller.
It even shows the wheel as ECCI HI-DEF USB.

It's the windows (joy.cpl) test & calibrate interface that thinks it's a joystick & I can't "move the joystick in full circles" as it requests. Essentially it's the wrong axis & button configuration.

I also have a post at microsoft so if I get any good news from them I will be sure to post here.

Thanks a bunch & let me know if you have any more thoughts.

From the manual, if in separated axis mode, the wheel moves the joystick on the x-axis. If connecting in linked axis mode, wheel is x-axis, pedals y-axis.
Is that what's happening, or is this where you see it's operating the wrong axes?

(Manual I'm looking at is just titled Trackstar 6000, no GTS - don't know if that makes any difference.)

My other thoughts are to remove the device via Devices and Printers then unplug/replug and see if any change (thinking if Windows ends up applying a different HID driver).
If it doesn't, I'm curious if HID-compliant device will fit better than HID-compliant game controller.
