Is this a real steam staff member?
This person claims they are a steam staff member, but we are contacting through discord...

No. Steam will never contact you via 3rd party apps. It's a common scam.

Edit: Report the account to discord and any associated Steam accounts.

Nope. Steam staff, employees, mods or admins will never contact you outside of steam.

Oh.... The scammers finally made a modern looking Steam Certificate. Still fake, though.

I really enjoyed the footnote "Verified by Valve & Steam Database" while SteamDB already disclaimed to be any part of Steam or Valve.

And the best part of all was the "End of Proof"-sign where no proof was even started. The only thing that was proven here is that they are absolutely clueless.

Neat, an email adress. Let's see, if I they answer or if it has been shut down already. Looks like a fun way to waste some time.

Using the profile link to an actual Staff Member - decently clever.

Missing the fact, that the info box of said Staff Member states right at the top: "I will never contact you on Discord. If someone is there claiming to be me, it's a scam." - not so clever

Some cheap graphic that literally anyone with MSPaint could throw together in 5 minutes does not mean anything. Refer to Steam's official articles. Specifically:

Valve employees will never communicate with you about your account using any chat system including Steam Chat and Discord. The only way you can speak with a Steam Support agent about your account is through the Steam Support Help Site. There's no situation in which you'd need to reach out to a Valve or Steam employee directly to resolve an issue.

If someone claims they reported you accidentally or falsely, you do not need to do anything to protect your account. These claims are always fake and only meant scam you. If someone did report your account falsely, you can rest assured that Steam disregards false reports.

Anyone claiming to be a Valve employee, Steam Support representative, or asking to verify your items for an investigation should be immediately reported.

That s a scam

It's kinda sad that scammers use such cheaply and shoddily made "certificates" and that there are even people who believe those.
J4MESOX4D May 19, 2022 @ 1:40am
Without even looking I'm going to guess this is a 'Steam employee' on Discord with a gmail address and probably has some certificate created on MS Paint uploaded as artwork for 'credibility'?

Looks more like Powerpoint, but otherwise, you completely nailed it.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
