Any idea on how to fix this with steam?(FIXED)
Hey so I've been having this problem for awhile now and I have no clue how to fix it. I originally didn't have a reddit account but I decided to make one and try to ask this community about it. Basically when I first start up my computer, everything is fine and cool, but when I open steam and try to download something its fine for about the first minute or two until it starts to exponentially decrease in download speeds. From about my average 2mb/s to 0b/s. I've tried re-installing steam, changing my download region and I can't seem to find a fix. Let me know if there is anything I should do. Your download speed is being impacted by the disk speed. Do you have enough space available on the drive? Do you have anti-virus installed?

open task manager and check if your Disk Usage is above 1% when you are updating Steam Games.

Disk Usage will take priority over Download speed.

once Disk Usage is back to 1%, then your download speed will start up again.

I have enough space on the drive yes, and I also use Norton.

There's your problem then. Norotnn is notirous for wrecking things as it doesn't play nice with Steam. Your best bet is to chuck it and get something else.

As for drive space, remember that you need to do TWO things with Steam. NEVER go over 90% usage on your drive, adn always allow up to three times the totla file size for the download as games are encrypted and compressed and need that extra space.

for others who are having this issue, what fixed it for me was verifying the integrity of the game files and that fixed it
