Question about pending transaction
So i bought like 1 week ago and it's still showing on my bank's phone app that it's still "processing".

It usually takes a few days for it to finalise i noticed this every time.

My question if the last day of the pending trasaction comes and it is NOT finalised what will happen ?

Will steam ban my account because the transaction was unable to go through ?

Also will i be able to make other purchases ?

Nope, what will happen is that your funds will be allowed to be used again (they haven't actually left your account).

You'll simply be able to try again.

So if i have another purchase pending besides that one, it won't cancel the 2nd one if the 1st one fails ?

No they are sepearate transactions.

Any checks for authenticity of the card and so n are done at the point of purchase.

If the transaction fails then it fails. It does not affect other transactions.

So if the 1st fails then that doesn't mean Steam will ban me or cancel my 2nd transaction right ?

The 2nd one won't be affected in ANY way if the 1st one fails ?

That's what I said. They are separate transactions. One does not affect the other.

The only time you you will get a card or payment method withheld is if it causes issues like flagging as being stolen or something like that.

I am guessing if the 1st one fails, then the game i bought will be removed from my library correct ?

If it was ever there in the first place, yes.

Though it most likely will go through. Let me try to explain how payments work as it may help.

When you make ANY Payment online they use the same system.

There is a VERY short window between the vendor (Steam in this case) and your bank or payment provider. It's kept short for security reasons.

The downside of this is that handshake can fail if it's busy or takes too long. It often happens with people who use certain third party payment providers like Paysafe.

And what happens in those cases is your money gets "set aside" in your bank account. It does not leave your account but you can't see it or use it. At the end of the day provedures, Steam will have a backup system where they send a bulk amount of data of all transactions (or something like this).

So if it doesn't go through immediately it usally goes through from this backup system.

However if it still fails, then it takes about 3 working days for the money to simply get freed up for use again.

And that's what will happen if the payment ends up failing for you. The money gets freed up again and you will be free to buy it.

But it is rare that this happens where you've already got the game. That would suggest your bank might just be slow at upadting their data.

Well 5 working days have passed and it's still showing as pending.

I still have 2-3 days until authorization expires but i hope it goes through.

Yeah the 3 working days is a rough guide as it depends on a lot of ffactors - how good your bank is, whether they employ any third party payment providers and so on.

Actual recognized banks are the quickest.

Probably because some banks take longer to process payments.

Well in any case, it's been solved, checked my bank's app this morning and the purchase finally went through.

Many thanks for the help both of you ! :steamhappy:
