No audio in certain games
So I've encountered a few games now that didn't have audio despite working perfectly otherwise. Those games include, for example, Sonic Generations, Summer in Mara and Spiritfarer. Other games work normally and I haven't come across any other audio issues on my PC.

I have tried updating my drivers as well as disabling them and enabling them again. Windows is up to date. Troubleshooting did nothing. I tried restoring some default services too, still nothing. The games aren't muted (checked many times) and my speakers play other audio without problems.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about this? I've tried pretty much all the advice I've found and seem to have come to a dead end.

I have the same issue with a couple of games. I also have a 5.1 sound system and 5.1 headphones which is my default audio mode..

In the no sound games I have to switch the audio output from 5.1 to stereo to get the sound back.

Hope that helps. Good Luck.

I have had this sort of issue, especially with older games (or games that aren't well optimised). I use a laptop which mostly sits by the side of my bed, hooked into my TV as a mirrored monitor.

Because of this, it will sometimes screw around with the sound output and get confused. I believe it's largely a Windows 8 or 10 issue.

What I do to fix it is simply this - go into Windows settings. Choose the sound options, and bring up all you sound devices. Disable ALL of them completey except the one you want to use. This should fix it.
