Sending digital gift cards internationally.
I wanted to send some digital Steam gift cards to friends overseas, so I was checking Steam FAQs to see if that was possible. This is what I found:

"Are there country restrictions on Steam Wallet codes?

Yes. Each Steam User Account is associated with a specific currency, which you can see in the top right corner of your Steam Client. You may encounter an error if you try to activate a Steam Wallet Code issued in a different currency than the one of your Steam User Account."

I'm a bit confused by this. Yes, I understand that accounts are region specific, but the last half makes it sound like sending digital gift cards internationally may work. Do they, or don't they?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist!

You can send the digital ones regardless of country, though due to sanctions, some places may still be excluded.

The digital funds are sent directly to the users account and must use an external payment method. The funds are converted to the currency of the recipient.

They most likely won't work. They're covering their own butts when things go wrong because they changed the system.

Well, Argentina and Turkey also have restriction sending/receiving them through Steam due to currency instability.

Good to know, thanks! I'll just have to be careful to double check that their country has no additional restrictions.

About current exchange rates.

As my new friend said, it will convert it.

It could be more or less, depending on where it is sent and the exchange rate. I am not sure how often the rate is changed for such a conversion though.
