Discord Chat and a DDOS Attack On My Steam Account
I was in a public discord chat where everyone was trolling/trash talking each other, it was actually kinda funny. One guy wasn't a fan of me poking fun at him and he DDOSed my steam profile, it was inactive and it was generic numbers. Couldn't log into it. He then started asking me if I deleted my account, and asked that I give it to him so he could look me up. Screenshot em' and told em nah dude you're just trying to dos me so I screenshot people like you. He giggled and kept asking me to give him my account. He stopped when I stopped paying attention to him. I reported him to that servers moderators but we have a problem here.

1. He pulled an IP? through discord. Safe to assume it's third party.
2. I'm pretty sure he's asking me to 'give him' my account info so it seems like I'm consenting to his next step of hacking me.
3. Would a VPN be able to stop this? How the hell was he able to target steam and not my internet as a whole?!

@Rawr I'll play with your mom instead.

@Everyone else. Yes I get it, I'm stupid, I'm a child, I'm a narcisist, I don't know anything, I think computere are a room with walls, I am paranoid, irrational.

Hackers aren't real, no one can hack me as long as I don't click a link or download something.
First off don't be rude to Rawr.

Hackers refer to are real, but they wouldn't waste their time attacking children, or hang around public space that monitor, and record people if didn't know discord does monitor, and record people.

Another is the fact your logic flop is being in a channel where people being trolling, and trash talking which is a giveaway on it own, which wouldn't be hard for someone to troll you if your this gullible to believe someone hacking you, or DDoS you on Steam despite the fact Steam profile is literally server sided as it not stored on your computer at all, it on their server miles, or so away from you.

Avoiding downloading things don't know is a smart thing to do, because there a lot of scammers online, and lot of phishing links to fake websites trying to scam people into logging in to steal their login info.

I educated people time to time about these things for basic things to watch out for, and what you don't want to do on the internet.

Also if want I can explain how VPN works, and why some of them don't work as intended to mask one identity.

You're misintepretting what I said.
If you don't really see and read what people are actually saying and instead just imagine what they could mean based on whatever you imagine it might say, then...
its kinda useless for us to even try talking. I mean, we cannot influence your fantasy world. We cannot provide it with anything useful.

What you're doing is classic though with narcistic types of problems.
and that you experience those doesn't mean you're narcistic, it means you're too influenced by emotions.
It's a type of defense mechanic. Of the three types, fight, flight or freeze, this one belongs in flight. Quickly trying to make sense of what is going on based on quickly made conclusions introduced in the head with strong emotions, causing fiction to overwrite reality, basically.

and like I said everyone has a bit of D-traits and issues with them sometimes.

but anyway if you're not open to what they said and are convinced they really did the worst to you, then for us its like talking to a wall.
It doesn't matter if we know more, or less. If information doesn't get send or doesn't arrive, its only going to lead to misunderstandings.

Rawr's a big boy. His whole chat history is laced with jabs. He can take it. Yes I'm aware everyone in the chat was roasting. However, something actually happened

Thank you Sigmund Freud.

What you're looking for isn't alternative possibilities. Instead you want sympathy. You want others to be angry for you as well. You may even want someone else to execute revenge for you, so that they would be punished for what they did to you. (I suspect)

I really want someone to take me to a 'playroom' like 50 Shades of Grey.

Yes, it's called "a Steam server hiccup". They happen every now and then and what you described (being unable to login, profile name in numbers, not being able to reach the profile when clicking the profile link) are exactly the symptoms of it.
Elucidator 14/jan./2022 às 10:58
Well anyway I conclude I cannot help you, so I'll leave the thread alone.
I hope you can find someone you can trust and at that time aren't stained by anger or this experience.
Everyone is different. Things might repeat information wise, but I hope you don't immediately think they're the same, etc.

It could also be the symptom of being hacked. I remember back in the day a dude who took over my buddies browser and was typing ♥♥♥♥ talk.

Discord is insecure, extremely insecure. Its like as if a bank were to use their safe as a front door with the door left open. All the criminal needs to know is how to search through it.

People who know so little on how things on the internet work really shouldn't be using such an insecure platform.
In what way is it insecure?
How is it like a bank with open doors?
What do criminals find in discord if they search through it?

first you think your account was ddosed now you think you are a victim of hacking, is there any reason to think that?

No, it can't. Steam profiles are server side as in the information that couldn't be reached by you is server side, not your computer side.

It's not possible to DDOS a single account via your computer, that would affect your whole computer and wouldn't present the symptoms of a profile name turning to numbers or the profile being unable to reach as those a server side information. Hijacking a Steam profile (Steam accounts don't get bruteforced hacked, but hijacked via phishing) also doesn't present the symptoms you described.

It was a server hiccup and a douche that tried to act clever.

Edit: And the nice coincidence is that right now the post of Muppet shows his profile name as numbers for me: https://imgur.com/a/fBfSntb
Edit2: And a refresh brings the name back: https://imgur.com/a/SB4yMEA. Server hiccups.

If you read the thread, which I know you didn't, I elaborate by saying it mirrored that. I also acknowledge that in a DOS attack my whole network is usually effected, which is partly why I was confused as to how he disabled my steam/took it offline.
