Screenshot hot key stopped working

The screenshot hot key for Steam works only sporadically. As far as I can tell the key binding isn't being used by anything else, and sometimes it works but mostly it does not. Any suggestions/tips/commiseration? Or suggestions on third-party screenshot apps, as none I have tried thus far do what I need them to do.

I wanted to open a ticket but there's apparently no way to contact support about the client beyond the handful of topics they let you choose from and of course there isn't a "my problem isn't listed" option. Though I'm sure no one from Valve will see this...

You can change the keybind in Steam settings. Have you tried a replacement keyboard yet? I never had problems with the screenshot function or that key.

I've tried changing the key binding. I haven't tried a different keyboard but I might give that a shot. Though if this not-that-old Corsair keyboard is already giving up the ghost I will not be best pleased lol.

I've just played around a bit with Greenshot and that might be my solution.

If you are running Windows 10, the game bar has a built in screenshot/recording tool. Windows key + G or the Xbox button in the middle of your controller.

See if any other software is conflicting.
As Pscht says, Win10 can conflict with it's hotkey, but more than this if you have somethingn like nVidia's utility trunning that can disrupt things.

That's actually not what I said. I was offering an option how to take screenshots if Steam's built-in way doesn't work.

Gamebar closes itself and doesn't save the screenshot. Windows Snip & Sketch or whatever TF they're calling it now minimizes the game, doesn't save automatically, and crashed the game after several screenshots last night, which was exciting. I've used Nvidia GeForce experience and like that, but it also stops working randomly. I do tend to have it running in the background so maybe exiting that will help. Something else to try at least!
