Steam Overlay Making My Games Unplayable
It only started recently, but I can not use Steam Overlay on games anymore. If I do have it on the game will take an incredibly long time to load, I'm talking like 10 times longer that usual. And when the games do open the graphics is affected. Textures fail to load in, fps seems to remain the same as with it on, only no textures load in properly. Making gaming impossible, especially in like a MMO because enemies in game do not load in but you see them on a mini map and they attack you but you can't fight back cause you can't see them. And this all does not happen when I have overlay off. I do not understand. For example, I have used Steam Overlay on 2 specific games (GTAV & DCUO) for many years, now I can't. Any reason why? And any way I can fix this?

First thing you could try is to clear your web cache under steam settings.

If that doesn't work try the general fix all. Go to your steam install folder, and delete everything except steam.exe and your steamapps folder where your games reside.

The run that steam.exe and it will reacquire all the files needed.

See how you get on.
