Red radar in the top right of my screen that I want to get rid of
Whenever I play certain games (mainly Payday, Doom, and CS:GO) there's what I assume to be a sound radar. It actually picked up sound for a few months but it stopped after a while. It only happens with games I play from Steam so I assume it has something to do with it. It's big, red, looks like crosshairs, and it blocks the top right of my screen.

Sounds like some kind of sonic radar that was installed with either your motherboard, graphics or audio drivers (not Steam). Click Start > Settings > Apps, see if you can find the program responsible in the list and uninstall it.

Alternatively, I've got a feeling it's starting with Windows in which case you could press Ctrl + Shift + Escape to launch Task Manager, click the Startup tab then right click > disable the program there (assuming you can identify it) and reboot your system.

Do you have an ASUS ROG motherboard? Sounds like their Sonic Radar.

It is either as rawWwRrr says above, or another piece of software interfering. I can't recall what it is offhand as I've seen it before a number of times. It might be some streaming software iirc.

Thank you to you all for helping with my problem, apparently it didn't have anything to do with ASUS's Sonic Radar but instead, Dobly Atmos's Sound Radar. Your replies did give me a place to start so I appreciate the help.

Oh that's the one. It was an audio device not a streaming thing.

There's a few different ones but they all revolve around sound radar of some kind. Nahimic Sound Tracker is another that I know of.

For anyone still looking - I suddenly had the same issue, I wasn't aware of any app that could be doing that - try looking for Dolby Atmos for Gaming, you can switch the Sound Radar on/off there.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
