Question about sales and daily deals
I have just now heard of daily deals and flash sales.

I've actually had a number of games on my wishlist for a while now, but haven't been interested in actually buying anything until now, so I had been mostly ignoring any emails I got for when something goes on sale.

So glad I decided not to buy anything until the end of this current sale while I take time to decide what to buy and how to decide.

To start with, I have put the games with bigger discounts into my cart, hoping that those with smaller ones will get bigger ones next time they go on sale. But, I guess seeing how high a discount they get next sale would be a moot point if those could get raised just briefly mid-sale.

So, will I be notified if something on my wishlist gets a daily deal or flash sale, or am I gonna have to keep an eye on my wishlist?

There are no flash sales on Steam. The discounts the games that participate in the Winter sale have is the discount they'll have til the end of the sale.

Daily deals are just short sales moments for a game outside sales events (or during sales events if the game isn't actually partaking in the sales event). They too aren't flash sales and usually have the general discount the game always has.

You can use Steamdb to see the price history of a game to make an educated guess on the next sale price. Though if you expect sudden high discounts, you're having wrong expectations.

Daily and flash sales during a major sales event haven't been a thing for years. Any discount it has now, will stay the same till the end of the sale.

Steam doesn't do Flash or Daily Deals during sales events anymore.

The prices will remain the same for the entire sale period.

Aside from all the whining and crying any time someone missed a flash/daily sale. Or bought a game that ended up on a flash or daily sale and wanting to refund it. Not to mention how it started being a major driving force for customer behavior that I'm not sure Valve or publishers really want to encourage...

Kinda surprised it lasted as long as it did in hindsight.

Sales have been greatly streamlined, upside is you don't have to worry about that fuss. Downside is you won't have your socks knocked off on a daily basis.

Yeah sorry, flash sales are a thing of the past, and have been for many years.

Sadly, while a number of people enjoyed them they were also hated by others.

When you consider that of all the gamers everywhere in the world, the largest group are the 25-35 group, followed by the 35-45 and the 18-25 then you can easily see that will include an AWFUL lot of gamers who will have work commitments or family commitments and miss them.

So they stopped.

So while the thrill of aniticpating a flash sale is gone, the sales themselves have been improved to reflect this.
Flash sales went away when refund was a feature.

By now only epic lets you step in a trap, if you buy a game which they give away for free throughout the sale.
