Hi I want to play local coop games with my son. One of us using keyboard & Mouse and the other using a controller. My question is will all coach coop PC games allow this? We play Hyperboxed like that and its super fun but I wanna get more coop games but dont wanna spend money and them not working like this. Any help would be much appreciated and thanks

You may want to ask on the game forum the game this is from on steam or any game you want to get in the future. They would know more specifics on the forum of the game that information.

Shouldnt be a problem so long as the other players own the game and is your friend on Steam.
And that game supports co op.
its not like remote play where you share a screen and the other player doesnt need to own the game.
Co op everyone must own a copy of the game and be friends on steam. You add a pass word and host send password to fiends on Steam chat and friends.
Otherwise running a public co op could attract the wrong kind from anywhere.

I just noticed there is a Tag for Shared/Split-Screen COOP. Im assuming that tag means any variation will work. K&M and gamepad or 2 gamespads yeah? Anyone know?

You're assuming wrong. This tag says "there's local MP", nothing more. Some games pay support mixed KBM/gameplad play, others may not. As has already been said:

Get a second gamepad to be on the safe side.

There is no "all". Games are done by different developers, and even the same developer can do things differently compared to their previous game(s).

Lots of split-screen games on Steam. There's a tag for it actually.
https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Split+Screen

A few examples:

My son and I have had a ton of fun with Earth Defense Force in split screen.

Keep in mind split-screen is often best with two controllers, rather than one controller and one mouse/keyboard, but there shouldn't be anything stopping you.

It Takes Two as suggested above is currently game of the year and is of exceptional quality. In 8 hours time the winter sale starts so you should be able to get discounts on any titles that interest you.

There is also the likes of

and depending on your son's age, this may also be worth a look

Here is some gameplay of It Takes Two to show how it appears

Yeah, thats the problem. Hypercharged will work with one of us using keyboard an dmouse and the other using a gamepad but its clunky. It tells me the controsl for PC while Im using a gamepad and his screen will have gamepad contols while hes using K&M. Trial and error I guess. At least there is a 2 hour refund so if whatever game doesnt work correctly I can always get a refund

Don't stretch it, lest you'll get your refund privileges revoked. Better research before buying.
