If you've stopped it partway through I guess whatever it's downloaded so far is still there, not sure what impact just deleting those files would have, but you might just want to let it finish.
yes but i need the space and cant download it
thats the issue
i want the 25 gb back that i had an hour ago and only downlaoded 50mb of it
i tried deleting download cache but didnt work
i cant delete the games
i cant update
i need the space
how to free the FREE space
Cleasring your donwload cache will only clear up what is in Steam's download queu. It won't change what has already been arranged on your disk.
The problem is you started downlading this, and so it reserved that initial 25GB space.
So you need to uninstall THE GAME ITSELF. That will free it up.
ye but the game is 80gb and i dont want to do that
internet speed is so low here
and it has 3 folders (i have 3 games in download queue so i assume its them)
and the one i want to delete is 43gb
what happens if i delete it?
The moment you cancelled it you're kind of stuck. It allocated the space within that game's files to write the new data. So it's almost impossible to know what's going on.
YOu really only can get that space back by deleting and redownloading.
But be warned, if you then redownload it is also going to load the update too, so you're kind of stuck.
Your best bet is to etierh make the space up by deleting games you're not playing, or buy your self an external USB drive - they're cheap as chips. Last one I bought from Amazon was a 2TB one for £40.
Do note though, if you iwhs to play this game at ANY point in the future, you ain't going to be able to unless you update so you're kind of screwed this way too.
so i deleted the downloading folders and freed about 98gb
i got the space i wanted
BUT im not sure if its the temp folder for download
i think these 98gb were here from before and the 25gb is still taken in the game files
anyway, i got what i wanted hope they fix this problem of temp files someday with every week update to the client
They are needed.
Generally speaking anything that appears in that games folder under steamapps is fine for deletion if you're getting rid of the game.
