Edit 2: you may also want to look at the S.M.A.R.T values of the disk you're trying to put the games on
Edit3: I am breaking my own rules. First you want to check the logs. (steam installation place \ logs)
specifically content_log.txt - You can see where exactly it errors and why.

Anyway, you can see the list is getting very long and complicated.
Hense checking the logs for the actual information is a good idea so you can narrow down the issue.

yes i know it said you solve it , but never with what and how, other stam user had disk write issue before and there are multi solution on that issue.
