Steam launch a lot slower after I used CCleaner

After I installed and used CCleaner to clean my PC once, I found that now my steam launcher once used to take less than a second to launch now take about 10 second after the click to pop up. I have already uninstalled CCleaner but it doesn't help.

I would google if ccleaner leaves any legacy files behind after uninstall as it's got a bit of a bad reputation for sloing things down and wrecking performance these days.

I read about some issues a while back and thought I'd just leave mine and not touch it for now.
Might look into an alternative when I can be arsed, but like most things that'll probably mean never.

What does Ccleaner do? Is it just a cache cleaner? I understand why people used those back in the days of 20GB HDDs, but these days surely most people have multiple TBs of storage.

No it's more than a cache cleaner. It's more of a general cleaner. It cleans up loads of other dead or dormant files, registries and so on.

I don't know what the issue is of late, but that's what it has traditionally done.
