You could get duplicate cards from packs too. And you're unlucky probably.
So there is no guarantee you get the card(s) you want from a booster pack.
I've opened boosters that contain 3 copies of the same card, it's just bad luck.
Booster packs are just MORE drops. 3 of them to be precise. And just like drops, they are purely random.
I've had booster packs with three of the same card.
It's not a big deal though as they're still cards you can swap with others.
As crunchyfrog stated, it's not uncommon to get 3 of the same card, especially since A) each card is an independent event B) if the set only has 5 cards, then 20% each time is not astronomical to think that you would get the same card.
