IP banned?!
It seems I've been ip banned from steam for no reason?! I can't log in, and even the steam website won't load. The only way for me to even type this message is through mobile data on my phone. I don't understand

Valve does not do ip bans. Reboot your router.

IP Banning would serve no purpose .If they want to keep you away from Steam. They just have to do an account ban.

You'd know if your account was banned.

Being able to connect on a 'non local' device but not being able to on the local device, means you need to troubleshoot the issue.

Do this first:

If that fails:
-Just release and renew your IP in Command Prompt
commands:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
-Go to your Network Adapter Settings, enable IPv6 if it's unchecked.
-Go to Services, ensure "IP Helper" and "IP Translation Configuration Service" are set to Automatic.

Nothings changed.. I've tried all the suggestions, steam just won't connect to my wifi without me using a vpn, which I can't do permanently

Try using an ethernet cable if your PC is close to the router and or uninstall your VPN software assuming it has any and reboot your PC, plus check your antivirus is not blocking Steam and your firewall is letting Steam through.

For this to happen means spamming the network happen from said IP. Steam does do temp block, so can try again later.
  • If using VPN, or proxy it likely they got flag, or someone spam their network using that said VPN, or proxy you're using.
  • If you use a service, has set up something, or done something to spam the service that can be an issue you have to look into so doesn't happen again.
  • If you're using school network, or public network, it's possible bunch of people at same time spamming the network.

Now if this is related to web broswer issue, it's possible an issue with browser that need to update, browser cache, or addon causing issue, another is time sync, where your clock is not sync correctly, and need to be adjusted such as daylight saving, or such.

If you have WiFi, does your phone work when connecting to Steam? If so, that would confirm the issue is moreover within the system itself. The reason I mentioned the commands & services is if you have one thing wrong, it may not load Steam and some other sites as well, at all. It will load a bunch, but it will not load everything you may normally visit, which means we'd need to look at it deeper.

Else, you could also disable IPv6 and see if IPv4 works without issues at all times, if so, then I would question your routers age & firmware (don't mess with by updating the last one unless absolutely needed). Keep in mind after you start some services manually if it's not running such as those; release & renew tends to correct the issue either instantly, or within a minute, by resolving the connections properly.

Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking, if this works correctly, then the issue is 100% something that's on your login applying to you, not so much the IP itself being temporarily blocked, though Dr.Shadowds could be correct as well, so ensure you read their post in full.

LIkely a router issues as others have been telling you. There can be many things causing this, so the best thing to do is a bit of troubleshooting.

Connect your PC via cable. Do not use wifi. See if things change.

Thy updating the formware on your reouter and making sure you COLD reboot your router too - not just restart it.
