I am being slandered!
Steam says my account is being used for commercial purposes but I only gifted my friends (whomst I know in real life) 4 games, I would like to gift another a game so we can play together but it keeps on failing. After getting help and or support, I came to the realization that Steam considers my account usage commercial. I don't know why and or what caused this to happen, but I would like to get rid of this accusation and gift my friend a game.

Is there anywhere I can speak to someone so I can get this issue resolved?

Edit: I believe this issue has been resolved, if my understanding of this situation is correct, there is nothing more I can do but wait for them to review my account purchases. I thank you for your criticism and tips, I will continue to read and sometimes respond to your comments.

It would be libel. Slander is spoken.

No.

Steam has systems in place that are extremely accurate. Being hit with the Commercial Activity message gives you more of a message than that; you likely can use a Payment Method, but not Steam Wallet. Either way, read the full message for details.

They don't just slap people with Commercial Activity unless it highly appears to be the case, which can be included with exactly what the account itself is doing or has done.

This is not slander for a start, nor is it libel. You have to PROVE that. You can accuse but let's not go into legal ground you clearly have no idea of.

The problem here is that is this TRULY a Valve message or is it one of the usual scammer messages?

Did this come from Valve internal support, or was it one of those "I'm a Valve employee honest guv" messages on discord or something?

That's the real question.

If it IS Valve, then you have one option - do as they say and respond to their message explaining your case. They have evidence that checks for all this so it may be a false positive. But the only way to get round that is to prove you aren't.

I have not done anything other than gift 4 of my friends games that we play together often, why would this flag my account?

I'm not sure if it is likely to be a scammer because the app tells me that there was an error gifting.

Also, where would I provide evidence that I am not using my account for commercial use?

Forgive my slowness. I am not a very intelligent young man.

The key here is where did the MESSAGE that tells you this come from? If it's from within Steam itself, then it's official. If it's from somewhere else or from some other account claiming to be Valve, then it's bogus.

As for evidence, there is none unless they ask for it.

You need to explain to them by responding to the message they sent you and tell them all you've done. They can check the data they've got and see. If they require more they will ask you.

Commonly these things trigger as security. It's NOT saying you did this, but you've been SUSPECTED of this. They are two very different things.

So respond if it's legit, and do as I stated, and wait for their response.
I assume you used wallet?
Pay for the gifts or send digital gift wallet from steam.

I have done as you said, their response was:

"Thanks for getting in touch. I looked at your account, and I do see that you have a general gift purchasing restriction. We have reason to believe that you are using the gifting system for reselling activity, which Steam does not support.

You can still purchase gifts and send them to any of your friends if you use a payment method directly to purchase the gift, instead of your Wallet funds. You are free to use your Wallet funds toward making purchases for your own account.

Steam Support is unable to remove this restriction.

As this is all the information we can provide about this gift purchase restriction, I will be closing this ticket. if you have any other issues with Steam, you are welcome to open a new ticket.

Your House Elf,
Robby"

Thank you for your help.

Yes I used my wallet. I don't have a credit card to pay for the gifts myself because I am too young to get one.

You got money into your Steam wallet somehow. Use the same means you used to top up your wallet.

Yeah well they have evidence then. They do NOT do this without such.

Anyway as they describe you are still free to send gifts, as they state. So no harm here.

By past peoples posts, its rather a "sensor" situation. Not necessarily based on evidence of deed.

You can try it out yourself by gifting with wallet some time.

I did that a while ago, sold a couple cards on my secondary account, used that dough to buy a gift for my primary. Went fine.

That worked well for the topic creator another 3 times as well.
