Client frozen when waking from sleep

So there is literally one google result on the internet for this issue and I can't believe no one has experienced this more often.
Recently I have been having an issue where when waking my PC from sleep, my Steam library window that was previously open is frozen and unclickable/unable to interact with any games. I can click on store, then back to library, and everything works, but I am sick of doing this every time. It's not the skin ive been using, it occurs on all defaults. GPU rendering in webview disabled, no luck. HELP!

Go into windows power settings, and change settings to never enter sleep mode.

Sleep mode pretty much always cause problems. (mostly with hardware, like external audio cards, but as you've discovered some software doesn't work well with it)

I'm definitely not going to totally disable sleep mode to solve it.

Have you just waited a few minutes? Steam usually takes a few until it becomes responsive again on my systems.

It does not become responsive after any amount of time on its own

I'm having the same issue, not sure when it started but I began to notice at the beginning of the month. Nothing is clickable in the client after sleep. Right-clicking the taskbar icon pulls up the mini-menu but still nothing there is clickable either. The only way to fix is to "End task" from the Task Manager, or reboot my computer.

OS: Windows 11, fresh installed

I usually just hit the X from the toolbar and re-open it, seems to do it. I don't believe this has been happening for very long, maybe a month or two, so maybe it has to do with one of the updates. I haven't messed around with stuff to see what I can do about it, so I don't have anything for you at the moment to try resolving it.

According to command prompt:

powercfg /a
The following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S3)
Hibernate
Hybrid Sleep
Fast Startup

So I assume S3 since your documentation link also says that's likely the case

the idea is that

Only system memory is retained. CPU context, cache contents, and chipset context are lost.

There is another bug on windows 11, if you prevent steam from starting up when windows is launched, it will start up when you exit sleep. (or at least according to another post)
so, I think this is a windows 11 bug.

It should have been unloaded completely, but it isn't. (steam is partly still retained in memory)

What you can do, is lower the severity of Sleep. (S2 basically) see if that helps.

Like that other guy, unfortunately you have no control over your own pc and microsoft attempts to claim ownership over it. So there is a lot of aspects you ... can't do much about.

What I guess: One of the reasons this happens is likely because it seems microsoft put chromium elements into the OS itself and sometimes this seems to conflict. It might also be caused by the Steam Client Service not getting unloaded when Sleeping (retaining its states and such, idk how the Steam client service works since its closed source and there is no documentation)

Other things you can do is, going even further, deeper in sleep (but that would basically mean almost shutting down). If your computer is fast enough you won't even need sleep anyway.

I recommend checking Power Management settings at least, and...

restart steam client so cache get update and network drivers. ( you cutoff network in hibernations mode i think )

try exit steam, then hibernation, then i think it will work after you relaunch steam.

I also just had it for the second time (also on Windows 11). First time even restarting Steam didn't help and I had to reboot completely, but maybe I remember wrong. This time restarting Steam solved the issue. I think the theory is correct and it only happens with Sleep mode, because most of the time I use the "Shut down" option and it never happens then. But I've been using sleep a lot last year on this laptop and never had this issue before around a month ago, same as mentioned earlier.

PS: I'm not asking for help, just confirming that it's not a single case.

In my case, not even the task manager helps. I have to reboot it every time.
