Problem switching to Xbox from PC
I was playing 2K21 golf on a PC and now have an Xbox series S set-up too. Two different games were bought for each. Now that the societies are open for the Xbox game, I don't see the societies I was playing in on my PC to join. My name is the same for both. Is that a problem or something else?

Moving game from PC to Xbox
I have been playing 2K21 golf on my computer with windows 10 and recently bought an Xbox series S console. Can I move my game to the Xbox or do I have to buy a new game for Xbox. I would really like to keep my player file if possible.

Rather obviously, PC games don't run on consoles. AFAIK there's a few exceptions with XBox-branded games from the Windows Store but those are few & far between (if they exist at all).
You have to buy everything again. Same for your "player file", if the game in question doesn't offer cross-platform saves by itself, you have to replay everything.

You could also buy a gamepad for your PC and run a cable between that PC & your TV. As good as an XBox but you get to keep everything.

PGA Tour 2K21 does not support cross play. This means PC players play with other PC players, and Xbox players play with other Xbox players.

Digging slightly deeper, while there's no crossplay, you can share custom courses across platforms. This is the extent of what can be shared though.

Its pretty much a shame that we can't play with the other platform Which is why people say "Get what your friends got" when someone started comparing PC and console

Consoles and PC gamers are worlds apart. This is how the gaming world has been since the earliest days. Sega and Nintento, for example have always had their fan bases, who stuck to either of the company's products, but there were never any cases of network sharing that I'm aware of. Microsoft and Sony are merely continuing the trend. Each developer gather their own users under their own umbrella.

Bummer, but I get it clearly now. Xbox may well be going back where it came. Thanks to all for responding!

Don't take it back. You can get Xbox GamePass Ultimate and you get lots of pc and xbox games at no additional cost. I have it and I play Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 on my Xbox SX and play Age of Empires on my PC. Just get Xbox installed on your PC too if it isn't already.

If there's cross play on any game it normally boasts it loudly. Because it's the exception rather than the rule.

The best chance you have is through Game Pass. If you buy the GamePass Ultimate you can get to use those games both on PC and your Xbox in majoris. Whether they cross platform the groups and so on you'll still have to check on but this is your best bet.
