Can't Claim Prepaid Degica Steam Card
I recently bought a 4000yen Degica steam gift card in Japan. I've never had this problem before today, however, when I went to claim the prepaid card, after logging in, it gave me an error page.

It said:
We're sorry, but something went wrong (500).
If you are the application owner check the logs for more information.

I've done and used this prepaid gift card system numerous times and never ran into this problem. Normally after logging in, the pop up page will give me a text box to enter the prepaid cards amount of cash. However, I can't even access this page, let alone get to a page where I can type the Degica prepaid gift card code. I haven't changed any steam settings since I claimed my latest prepaid card a few weeks ago.

Multiple of my friends have the same problem where they can't access this page. However, there are also some friends that CAN access this page. We seem to have the same settings, yet I run into this problem.

These are some of the methods I've tried but failed:

Cleared my cookies and attempted to access steam via browser.
Attempted to login through phone with different search engines.
Deleted and reinstall steam.
Restart PC.
Disabled every VPN or Anti Virus Software.

I've also had a friend (who doesn't have this problem) log in to my account and attempt to claim this card for me. He ran into the same problem and can't get to the page where you type in the amount of cash of the prepaid card. Doing this narrowed down the problem to either Steam or my Steam account and not to do with my PC. I have every thing related to steam updated and my PC updated.

I don't see what the problem is. Does someone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks for the time.

Check the balance of your convenience store webmoney card on webmoney's website.
also follow the guide here: https://steam.degica.com/get-started-with-steam/web-money

Keep in mind your locale and location settings on steam must be set to japan to use this service.
and you're not allowed to fake your location while dealing with finances on steam (eula issues).

edit: you can check the balance of the card here https://portal.webmoney.jp/card/spd.jsp?tmpl=balance
you can also see if it is correctly activated, etc.
You shouldn't need to allow a web api connection, so no clue why you get error 500, but maybe that error is used for more things. Just try again later if you get that error I guess.

I have set my location to Japan and hasn't changed since I created this account.

I think I made a mistake when I said it was a "Prepaid" card. It was a Steam Gift Card. If it was a prepaid card, I think your solution would've worked. My bad.

Because this is a gift card, I simply should be able to claim it straight into the Steam wallet.

Sorry. I guess I misunderstood indeed.
https://steam.degica.com/about-prepaid

yeah, you're right. It seems Steam Gift card is called Steam Prepaid in Japan. (I didn't know, because I don't live there)

In my own country, they are called Steam Wallet cards, confusingly.
the code on the card is called 'wallet code' here.

hm....
Can you activate the card in the Steam Client?

edit:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/redeemwalletcode
can you try filling in the Prepaid Card there?

and OP should stop spamming the same thread on more than 1 Steam Forum.

this thread existed first

I suspect OP recreated the thread elsewhere since the first two comments weren't taking him seriously and seem to try and insult OP or joke about it somehow. (the two seem to be friends and CS;GO players so they might have something to spew about I guess)

point is, such comments should be in the second thread and people should try to take things seriously and with more care for the original poster.

I figured out my problem and why I wasn't able to access this page.

My friends and I had a joke going around where we would put the emoji 🅿️ to replace one of our letters in our name. Some of my friends did it and some of them didn't. It took me a while to see that the friends that didn't have a 🅿️ in their name didn't have this problem, while the friends that did have the 🅿️ (similar to me) did have this problem.

This 🅿️ emoji seems to have caused a problem where the steam database or maybe for the degica server couldn't read my username (I don't really know, just taking guesses). It may possibly be with Japanese emojis and a problem with detecting the 🅿️. Either way, using this emoji in my username messed with how I could access the page, giving me an error 500.

The moment I took this 🅿️ out of my username, everything seemed to be working fine. I tested it with my friend who also had this included and it seemed to have worked.

I don't know the core problem of this error except for the fact that the 🅿️ emoji caused it. However, the solution seems to be to simply take it out of the username.

Thanks for all the help.

Glad you managed to figure out the issue. Have fun on Steam.

Do NOT buy Degica cards. They stopped working. And seems Degica can't help with your problem. Just use credit card, or if you don't have one just get a prepaid Visa/Master Card and purchase your Steam credits from that straight from the Steam app.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
