Steam is buggy
What the heck is going on with Steam? Every click is such a chore, takes a LONG while to move between pages. And no, it's not my PC(as Steam users usually blame the user's PC for Steam's issues) as things work normally outside of Steam. Moving between the store and the library takes about 10 to 15 seconds for it to change pages.
Seems like every update makes it slower rather than make it faster.
Glad PlayNite offers installation capability through itself, since using Steam to install anything is a chore due to these issues.

maintenance

steam's content delivery network through akamai is completely down at the moment,
other areas maybe affected. they also use cloudflare for their cdn.

Been down for days then, as it's slow for about a week already.

I'm using the São Paulo server, which is the closest to where I live. It's so slow. It's not the internet, but the app itself. Takes a long time to do anything. Everything else is working fine.

That's your PC or ISP then as none of those issues are present for me.

And it started. As always, it's never Steam's problem. As I said, EVERYTHING else works fine, only Steam is buggy.

I have had no issues with Steam since the last DNS attack, which was months ago. I have only lost the connection for about a minute today to Steam itself with the forums still operable.

So, you can see where most people would suspect something is going on your end, or your ISPs or countries infrastructure. Some may restrict speeds to services that use a lot of bandwidth. anyway, whitelist Steam if you havent, always give it admin rights and troubleshoot it as I can guarantee the issue is not Steam.

Everything is already done, and only Steam has these bugs. Anything else works fine. That's why I think BugSteam is the problem. It locks up all the damn time, while the PC processes other tasks just fine.
ALSO, games should NEVER have admin rights.

Locking up usually means there's more going on, so clearly, again, the issue is on your end. Things do not just lockup without a direct cause. this includes users "tweaking" or "tinkering" with their systems settings or BIOS.

Freezing is usually indicative of an unresolved issue, which yes, can show with some programs and not all or even one specifically. Including but not limited to damaged entries, corrupted files, bad RAM timings/voltage/frequency, gpu issues (set gpu settings to the OPPOSITE of your current for the client in Settings), software conflict or software restriction, ETC.

False. Some games run in a more stable manner when doing this, as do anticheats. Some things need more privileges in order to utilize the resources needed, or to do some of their operations. There is zero harm in giving a game, or a launcher, admin rights if it's not malware.

Some games actually crash immensely frequently or outright fail to operate correctly if not ran in admin mode, world war z this is fairly common for example for users, as are a fair amount of games that utilize the same engine.

Not always, sometimes it's the app itself, like this one. But, as Valve doesn't care, I'll try to live with this problematic app.

Case-by-case basis. Some things legitimately need more access to even run, let alone properly. Anyway, if you don't want to attempt troubleshooting and only want to blame, then I suppose we're done here.

If you feel like troubleshooting in the future, then we can attempt resolving it.

all i can say is WTF PEOPLE?!!! i have been having similar issues with steam freezing up and DCing randomly, i come to this thread to maybe find some useful info and all i see is a bunch of 5 year olds bickering about how its either ALWAYS STEAM"S FAULT.... OR..... NEVER STEAMS FAULT AND ALWAYS the person's equipment or settings. HOW ABOUT SOME ACTUAL ADVICE ON HOW OR WHAT TO TROUBLESHOOT INSTEAD OF JUST SAYING "ITS YOUR HARDWARE?!! Oh and trying to acess setting to clear cache DOES NOT HELP EITHER im tired of hearing " validate files" or "clear your cache" as those should be the 1st thing someone tries b4 going to a forum for help

That's why you should never allow admin rights to games.
Well, the blame started with them, not me. But, I don't care with this PoS app.

It's normal coming from this community. Don't expect help from them.

If you have not learn from past steam post server issue over the years, there is a longway from sweden to san paulo to US, and you all have diffrent locations and ISP, and region, or own ISP local area issue or own pc, teachnicaly that will not fit as a steam only issue or it has not reach all steam server yet, so many ways to lootk at it, but i dont think you will win if other same isp in same region say i dont have a issue,

just like my other day post next door neighbour in sweden could not get online after update and i could, i told him i just check for update and it did it and problem was gone, that did not work for him , but traffic return later to him, yo need to be better with own region , write here in Global can be seen as mistake, so many can say i dont have a issue, most stay out of post same as saying i dont have a issue or will not say they also have connection issue or in this topic steam is buggy,

to my knowledge its sunday and they dont do update unless its a emgency fix, lest see what happend within next 24hours if more get bug or not or do multi ISP's have a finger in this at same time, its midnight here in denmark and tahst why it dont make any sense why US or san paulo should have IP plaaned work or emgency fiber reparing,

gl with it

lets see if other steam user know why its buggy Elucidator point out, then it could explan alot , it just dont mean it here in EU or scadinavia yet. sense its midnight here.

most midnight issue is planned work or brake down, you dont do update with no crew in standby or rdy to take action to try solve it. ( before dawn set in at apoc 05:00 to 00:60 ( dont forget there is no night and day if you look at global world issue, you cant plan only fix at midnight it will be day other places, they try but it will never fit all ISP in the world.

and maybe why some times its impossible to get a word on the subject, its not debatable subject it will effect sombody always. and have to be done either way, and why sms tekst from ISP if they offer such service is vital for you today, can save you alot of greef, and you can do other things then try solve why its ongoing.
