Were they at the very same location?
Yes, they were in the same place
When using DualSense controller wirelessly, other wifi devices in the room connected via standard WiFi had crippled connection. Using speedtest.net it wad clear that download speed was massively reduced although interestingly the upload was mostly unaffected.
Switched to 5GHz wifi on the laptop and the connection was good.
We don't tend to use 5GHz continuously as the 5GHz signal dropoff tends to be worse around the house using our Plusnet hub.
Also have never noticed this with other bluetooth devices so was surprised to see it with the controller.
So the remedy seems to be one of:
Use the controller cabled.
Switch to 5GHz Wifi.
Consider a better wifi router or mesh solution with better (5GHz preferably) coverage so we can use 5GHz more.
Laughingly on my previous laptop, I would sit in bed with it on my lap. If I was playing an MMO and during a bit of dowtime, like travelling from one area to another, I'd open my DSi, and play a bit of that. As I'd also hold it across my lap, if it got too close to my laptop around the trackpad, it would turn the screen off and put it in sleep mode. Even if I turned wifi capability off on the DSi.
Funny but it took a while to work out what was going in, which is always the issue.
So yeahm, especialyl when you use proprietary stuff like Son'y controllers, it can be a pain in the arse to get them working correctly.
So all you can realistically do is either junk using wifi completely with that controll, or ttry a process of elimination by setting your routers; wifi channel to another one and seeing if it moves it out of frequency range enough so it doesn't interfere.
