How to hide "18+" games from friends?
I was thinking about buying some 18+, but I would not like to share that with people who may have access to my public profile, such as acquittances or family members.

It would be nice to be able to just hide games on an individual basis. My instinct was to make a new steam account, but it appears that it will not be that simple, since the library is shared between accounts.

I believe you can hide all ur games simply by pressing on "edit profile" and changing ur privacy settings for games.
but im not sure if there would be a way to hide certain games...

Either can choose hide all games, make profile private, or make new account.

Games only appear on account profile for playing it. But games will appear in library for anyone account if installed on the same system if more than one person uses it.

Anyways whatever your case may be, not everyone cares what content people are into may it be adult content, or not, just that people going to have an interest in things, and doesn't actually judge a person solo base on it, if you know the meaning "don't judge a book by it cover" then you might understand don't assume just because they play a adult game they're "insert whatever" when even they themselves may not want to share same dumb things they got into as well. Anyways whatever case be for wanting to hide it from family, and friends it's up to you if you choose to care what they assume what you're into, or not. Some people are chill about it, or looking for laughs, but not everyone going to be spiteful, or whatever.

I used to remember years ago some people will get mad at kids for playing GTA vice city, because has prostitutes in it, and teachers, or whatever would go telling kids off they shouldn't be playing those games, and what not, often I see the parents, and a lot of people don't actually gave a single F and told them off as they bought it for their kids to enjoy a video game. But these days have more snowflakes and people assume kids are need to be in a safety bubble within a safety bubble lol.

Anyways not trying to convince you of anything, you make your own choice how you see fit.

I don't care about character judgment, would just rather my work colleague doesn't see I'm playing ♥♥♥♥♥ pounder 3000 for 10hrs after work.

And you can do the simple things from my advice, either make games private via profile settings, make profile private, or make another account to do all the things you want that you don't want to share.

Create a new profile on steam, create a separate Windows user account with a separate email address to login it, then install steam on that user account too. If it didn't work, install another instance of Windows 10/11 and use it for adult gaming only.

Create a separate windows user profile, and keep all your adult games in the users -> your name folder (C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>). So nobody can access.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
