"YOU HAVE BEEN SENDING TOO MANY MESSAGES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. PLEASE WAIT AND TRY AGAIN LATER"
I've sent 1 message today, maybe the first this week and steam gave me that [imgur.com] message. I have never spammed and barely use the steam chat. Why has this happened?

The message I received was from a random account probably trying to scam me with a trade deal like they usually do but I want to know why steam prevented me from responding.

Update: It only seems to be happening with me sending messages to this person, but I'd still like to know why steam is saying "YOU HAVE BEEN SENDING TOO MANY MESSAGES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. PLEASE WAIT AND TRY AGAIN LATER" specifically to me. https://imgur.com/a/SZOwTTW

Did you raise your hand before speaking to the Prof?

Jokes aside I just got the same warning for the first time ever. I send 1-2 messages per month max, and haven't spoke to that person a whole month. Steam now dictates how and when I can speak? Wtf...
Strange, never seen that before.
I do know a lot of people use a 'script' that everyone can use.
It simply bypasses that message you got in CAPS.

Managed to post the message. Here's what I think was going on:

First paragraph was the combined size of about post #1 & #2 here, followed by ~80 one or two word lines. Their noob system must have interpreted it as spam, although it has no business interfering with my business. I then omitted the 80 lines part (which I conveyed by other means) and it went through. It could also have been a case of busting a hidden character limit (just as dumb). It seems you must yield to Steam hidden algorithm when chatting to your friends...

Fix your ♥♥♥♥ Gabe.

Only posting this since it's one of top search engine results. Hope someone finds it helpful.

I'm afraid you've completely lost me. When I originally posted this all I sent was "What" and it was the first message I had sent anyone for about a week.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
