CS:GO Causing Black screen when alt tabbing or closing.

Okay so I had just updated my computer yesterday, (windows update, and graphics update) and CS:GO works great in game. But the problem is I cannot alt tab or close the game properly.

When I open the game in Fullscreen Windowed mode I can alt tab and close the game properly.
But when I switch it to Fullscreen mode I cant alt tab or close the game without restarting my computer.

What happens is if I try to alt tab or close the game it leaves my monitors in a black screen. I can't CTRL ALT DELETE to close the program or anything, I have to manually restart it.

Every other steam game works fine in fullscreen mode, EXCEPT CS:GO.

I play competitively and if I were to scrim with my team or just play pugs I would have to restart my computer every time.

What i'v'e tried:

Reinstalling the game
Verifying Game Cache
Uninstalling GFE (GeForce Experience)
Scanning for viruses

Nothing has worked so far.

Would love a solution from someone. Thanks for ur time :D

Quick update:

I open the game in windowed mode and switch it to fullscreen and cant switch it back without it doing the samething

Meaning that something is wrong with Fullscreen mode.

Also I did an audio test when the game turns my monitors black and I can still hear audio playing in the backround, I just cant control anything when it happens tho. Can't even see my mouse cursor.

Okay I have resolved the issue!

What I did:

NVIDIA Control Panel > Adjust size and position > Uncheck the option, 'Override the scaling mode set by games and programs'

Everything is working perfect now :D

Ill leave this thread up if anyone else if having same issue

Nevermind! I have not resolved it fully.

So what I was doing was starting the game as windowed, switched it to fullscreen, and everything was working fine.

I took the set launch option off for windowed me and start it fullscreen mode to see how it ran and it did the samething. Made my monitors black and had to reboot my PC

another update:

the game stays open even when type 'quit' in console or even exit it manually and also makes my monitors black and have to restart.

may or may not of found the problem but what I did seems to be working (so far)

What I did:

Restored my 3D settings in my Nvidia Control Panel

will be keeping upates

Hey Synical, i have the same problems as you, was too lazy to search for solutions but will try the same thing as you did. Just installing an older driver didn't work for me so far. So i hope you did found the solution to fix it.

guys i have found the solution for me , if you are using 144 ghz monitor then please go to your adpater setting and there choose 120 ghz rather than 144 then your screen wont go black

You can switch in nvidia control panel scaling mode to gpu, not display. That helped me

i have it on 4:3 and i think that that is the problem but idk how to fix it without to change the aspect ratio
