Gift Card in recipient currency?
Hello.

When i send a gift card to my friends, the currency change from Swiss Francs to USD (or any other currency) always ends up with the receiver not getting $100 but $112.83.
Is it possible to pay however much i need to, in order for my friend to get exactly $100?

Its not that bad with USD at the moment because they get more than $100, but german friends would only get €92.83.

I've seen that apparently you can send "any" amount using this guide here:
https://www.howtogeek.com/331114/how-to-send-a-steam-digital-gift-card-in-any-amount/
But that shouldn't be the only option i have. If that even works.

Edit: Before anyone brings this up, i know i can use paypal to send money in their currency.
But that's now what i want.

No. That's how conversion rates works

As its been said that's how conversion works. $100 isn't equal to €100. You aren't losing or gaining money.

that's not the point.
I want my buddy to get $100. Not however many $ 100chf is today.
$112 is more than $100 and €92 is less than €100

My german friend wants two games. Both together cost €96.
I give him a 100 gift card, but oopsie poopsie, he doesn't have enough. So i gotta buy another gift card.

If paypal is smart enough to let me pick between "Sending 100chf" and "recipient gets $100", then steam should also be able to do so.

There's a Crome extension that allows to input custom amounts for Digital Gift Cards. If you want your buddy to get EUR$100 send him CHF$107.74 or whatever amount you get after applying the proper conversion

No in your case $100 = €92, if you want him to get €100 then you need to calculate based on the exchange rate and send that amount instead as its going to cost more then $100.

If $100 = $112 canadian then you need to adjust it on your end.

the point of this thread is for steam to allow me to do what i want natively. without chrome extensions or other ways.

Steam. Itself. No 3rd party.

There is, using the chrome extension. No other way.

brian9824's method or the way you mentioned in the OP.

If there were any other ways, we'd tell you.

Technically its Astaroth's method, but yeah no other way. If the OP wants to make a post on suggestion forum he can, but i'd be surprised if Steam ever implemented it.
