Constantly having to verify game files (games don't open until I do)
For nearly all of my steam games, after a week or so, I always have to either verify the integrity of their files or just reinstall. Without doing so, the games refuse to open, and the only way I have seen to fix this is verifying the files, where there are always tens (if not hundreds in some cases) of files missing.

For rather large games such as DCS where there are over 200gb of storage, this is extremely tedious and takes multiple hours to complete. I never had to verify my files this often until about a month or so ago, and now I have to do this on a nearly weekly basis for all games. Why do I suddenly have file issues with all my steam games?

I don't believe I have any storage issues, as my C drive have 30gb of storage left out of 232, and my E drive (where my steam games are located) have over a tb left.

Thanks for the info. I didn't visit any of the sites for it I only read the breifing text in search results when I looked to see what it was and did.
No problem

WeMod is advertized as a game modifier. Modifications are changes to files. Cheats are modifications (changes / edits) to files. Of course it modifies files when it's launched! That's what it does.
That's what cheats are, edits to files (modifications).
The only difference, really, between a cheat and a mod is which word people choose to call it. The process is the same.

Mods cause games to not run too happens all the time.

If WeMod is running there's the cause of not-default files causing

I have a similar problem, I downloaded WeMod on my pc and it didn't work so I undownloaded it but then after that, I always have to manually verify all my steam games everytime I want to play. I didn't have to do it before I downloaded WeMod, so maybe it messed steam up?

What do you mean you undownloaded it? That's not a compter term, really. We don't all have to be computer savvy experts. Computer term knowledge isn't required to game on a pc. Not required but it's helpful to know.

Download: copying data (files) from a remote location like a website to local storage (your pc).

Local: the pc we're using.

Remote: a computer or file(s) we accesss online that are local to a different computer at another physical location.

Install: Placing software on our local pc to run that software.

Software: a game, ms word, adobe photoshop CC, Gimp inage editor, the anti-virus we have and use, applications like image editors. Videos and images are not software they are files (data).

Data: Content. Files.

Uninstall: removing software so it doesn't and can't run.

Delete: Removing data from storage; getting rid of a file. Deleting and uninstalling aren't the same thing.

Deleting an installation file we downloaded that installed a program (WeMod in your case) doesn't stop the program it installed from running. We have to click start and (easiest way to get there is) type "uninstall", open the Remove/Uninstall Apps and Features application, select the software from the list, click uninstall and let the uninstall process run.

If you only deleted a file or files WeMod can still run and operate. If you used it and didn't tell it to stop doing what it does or uninstall it it can still be changing or adding game files.

The integrity validation checks a game's default files with the files we have for that game. If the files we have are different it will download and install the default (original, unchanged) files.
If WeMod is still on your pc, running, and changing files - because you told it to and haven't told it to stop using edited files, you don't have the default files...the mod WeMod is throwing in there doesn't work (as you said) for whatever reason. The validation process sees those files as...not the default files...so it fixes them by installing the default files.

That's very possibly what's going on in your case, Sauce.
The solution is either opening WeMod and telling it not to do whatever it's doing to that game or uninstall WeMod as I tried to explain above.

ah aight yeah that makes sense thanks
it worked on my dads computer though so it must have been an update or outage like someone else said
Jack Schitt 2021 年 11 月 6 日 上午 10:13
When the update completes does it say it wasn't able to do something or does it say it completed?

If it's unable to update specific files that might be happening because of anti-virus or other security software. Make sure any and all of your security allows and ignores the games and software you have through Steam. Apply exception /ignore options to the entire Steam folders, especially the library folders.

If you'd like to shut the updater off, it's stopping the game from running or in the way somehow open the .acf file in a text editor (not a word processor like MS word and office word programs - use notepad). Change the StateFlag value to 4 and the AutoUpdateBahavior to 1. Doing that turns the updater off, it tells steam the game or software is up to date.

The appID is the string of numbers in the steam page URL address for that title when we visit a game's Steam pages like the store, discussions, workshop content or news pages for that game or software in a browser.

The above suggestion does not allow pirating or violate any agreement. It tells Steam update checker that software is up to date so the updater doesn't run.
The update processes can stop games from running if it detects something out of date.

Ok, I've made a new partition in the drive where my steam games are located, and well as changed my power settings to the correct settings. I've also checked my anti-virus to see how they quarantine and whether this could have an impact on my game files, and it seems to not be an issue. Now I'll just have to wait and see if these have helped. Thanks for your help!

hello man... did you fix the issue....? i am also facing the similar case... please reply if you could fix it....

hello everyone

I'm having the same issue having to validate CSGO every time before I run the game, once I validate I got 1 or 2 files failed to validate every single time. After this is complete The game runs perfectly with no issues until I close/Quit CSGO. Then ill have to validate it again. I cant seam to figure out what is causing this issue.

Things I have tried multiple times:

-Uninstall CSGO
-Reinstall CSGO
-Uninstall steam
-Reinstall steam
-SFC scan now
-Reinstall Windows
-Reinstall Graphics NVIDIA Drivers
-Removed NVIDIA game services app
-Made sure Steam and CSGO were Run my Administrator
-Made Sure there was Nothing up with the firewall
-Steam and CSGO were allowed access through firewall also

I have basically Wiped this computer and Started over from scratch... It was a Windows 8 PC so when I Reinstalled Windows I went and bought Windows 10 for it. I can not figure out what has gone wrong ? I have re-installed windows 10 for a second time, and did the SFC scan now sense the windows 10 install.

Not like it really matters as I can validate before I launch and it works but being able to skip this step would be cool.

Would Discord, Steel Series, Astro, or Face it be the issue? I have Uninstalled all of these and it did not fix the issue?

I'm lost. Steam Support/Valve support don't seam to have any answers either after sending them all the Dump files.

Thanks in advance

When validation runs that means the game or Steam detected there was something not right with the files. If you're using edited or custom files? That's why this is happening. Don't use edited / custom files. If you're not using such files it's possible some files have become corrupt or fragmented significantly. Do some maintenance on your computer.

- Clean up: Uninstall programs you don't use or don't recognize. Delete any files left over from them that didn't uninstall, delete files you don't use and/or need and empty the recycle bin. Free up some space.

- Defrag (Those that say doing this to an SSD are not accurate. It doesn't hurt them. I've done it to mine for 8 years several times a year, same computer, same SSD: no problems).

- Run a virus and malware scan.

- Run CHKDSK

- Shut the computer down completely and let it shut down for a few minutes before restarting it.
(Closing the lid on a laptop does not shut it down, shut it down through the on-screen options or hold the power button in for 10 seconds).

- Contact official Valve Support. CS:GO is one of their games. Don't let them throw you aside saying "contact the developer". They are the developer. If you weren't aware these forums are not official support these are community forums. Gamers not developers or official support staff here.

I agree lol don't throw them aside is correct haha. As for you suggestions, I run no custom files, clean up PC has been done like I said I installed windows 10 and started it over as a brand new PC. I did run virus and malware scans, that didn't help either. Also did that chkdsk, came up healthy. The PC has been powered off before even moved from my house to my work to see if it was the network. But that also did not work. I feel like it's got to be something with Microsoft gameing services or the Xbox services trying to interact with it?? or steam and csgo files are not talking the way they should. But I don't know how many times I have to uninstall steam delete all the folders clear the recycle bin make sure it's completely removed to have nothing be fixed. I'm at a loss to what else the files talk to.
Jack Schitt 2023 年 1 月 25 日 下午 7:11
You can turn the update check off if you'd be interested in trying that.

In your SteamLibrary\steamapps folder you'll see a bunch of .acf files. CS:GO's will be appmanifest_730.acf. Open that file in a text editor (notepad++, windows Notepad, or the Mac equivelant recommended).

Change "Stateflags" to 4 and "AutoUpdateBehavior" to 1.

Note that if you do this you will not get updates. It should also stop the integrity verification process if that's what's running. If it's validating that you own it it will not stop that. When there's a game update you'll have to change those values back to what they were so make note of what they are before changing them. Backup the file by copy/pasting it in the same directory then deleting the original's extension.

Hi!

Better create your own thread (with more details if possible...)
