Online CD keys aren't proof, if they were I could just create a cheap game, pass out free keys to everyone and then use those keys to steal their accounts. They are also visible for many games if someone has gotten a hold of your account
Again, ID, Passport, etc means nothing. Steam can't verify they are real nor can they verify if the person sending them pictures of it is actually you or a person who stole your wallet for instance.
The first email used for your account on the other hand isn't written or stored anywhere. It's only something the creator would know as one of the pieces of proof and isn't something that can be stolen.
And sometimes people already forgot their first email
People can also use the combination of steam wallet cards details(date, amount, etc, etc) they had redeemed before as proof
Missed that...the first email? In all honesty, compared to a physical cd key, which could have been lost years ago, the first email isn't the worst thing Support could request. Seven years isn't that long ago.
So OP, the question is how to find the old email address? Places to check to: old accounts from other sites you used at the time could still have the email saved as the login. Check under all your all saved password in your browser section, the username/email will be saved there. If you ever attached it to something IRL it might be on physical paperwork? It might still be bound to whatever recovery account for the email was. Check on any phone, tablet, PC or Mac you had at the time, it might be listed somewhere. Maybe you shared it with an ol' friend that might remember what it was?
Edit: This isn't so much a convince Support issue but rather a "where did I use it last" mission.
You need to understand their side of things.
Scams and phished accounts are common on here. Accounts have VALUE.
So Valve support CANNOT tell who you are. You could easily be someone who has phished this account, and that's why they need to stick to evidence only the account creator would know.
And that's why they need those ORIGINAL emails. Because you would not have been phished IMMEDIATELY after creating your account.
Sadly there is no way round this - it IS your responsiblity for account security, as it is in every other service provision in the real world, from insurance to bank accounts. It's no different.
As for tips, well, if those previous email addresses were not closed by you they may still be open and you should try remembering them. A good trick I've found helping people remember is to think about where you were when you had this thing and what music you were listening to and so on. All that peripheral stuff tends to trigger memories.
If you don't have access to them anymore there's not much else you can do.
Especially as he lost his recovery code which was intended to help in scenarios like this
Do u ever use external payment method?
U can actually get ur account back if u can at least give a few valid payment with date+details+other info related to the payment
Last time I lost my number and email=I use my payment details to get my account back
And they verified it's valid and gave my account back
thanks for the tips about finding the email, but i assure you, i thought about it all, there is no way
replying some ppl, let be honest, there is no way someone would do all the stuff such as stealing wallet and stalking cd keys and getting my card number and ID sent directly to steam support. that sounds like some movie bank robbery stuff.
the first email is one stupidest proof i have ever seen, comparing to me using all my card's money to buy all games for my account.
also Thanks replies!!!
Actually yes they do - we see it on these very forums. Some people do indeed get phsihed and to get such data ofttimes all they need is access tot heir steam account and their email.
And that's the problem - Valve NEED to make sure that the evidence you provide isn't easily obtainable by this method.
if you mean this, i do have paper receipts from purchasing games outside
and yes i gave VALID payments and all details, but i wasn't lucky i guess?
i also have steam guard binding letter if it can help
thats exactly why i asked if they are a joke or what
Again, you didn't provide proof. What you did would be like me handing you a license that says my name is Eric Cartman and that I live in South Park Colorado.
You can't verify any of that info and neither can steam.
Again your supposed to have the backup codes if that happens or the recovery code, they exist for that sole purpose

That also means you lost not only the phone number, but also the R-code. Steam gives you multiple way to remove the authenticator. Which is why it tells you ot write down the R-code.
There are entire criminal enterprises and marketplaces that are literally dedicated to scamming an hijackings accounts.
Then how is you asking for the authenticator to be removed any different than me asking for it? If you cant provide the appropriate proof, then steam isn't going to jsut hand an account over to just anyone 'because you say so'
WHOEVER has those, must have kidnapped me and hacked my pc, also stole my trashcan to look for receipts from 2 years. Now, Seriously is that what steam support think happened?
instead of just me losing the phone? i still think this is a joke
Again, not sure why your incapable of understanding this. Your ID card means nothing as Steam is the not the government that issued it and has no way to validate if its a real card or a fake anymore then you can validate my ID if I hand it to you.
Here is my ID, I'm Keira Knightley - https://i.pinimg.com/originals/97/a0/ec/97a0ecf6aff7e3c6df1e37752252b008.jpg
Also not sure what part about you not bothering to write down the NUMEROUS recovery options that steam tells you to save in case you lose your phone isn't ringing any bells.
You chose to disregard the pieces of data steam TOLD you that you would need, and then except steam to accept whatever "proof" YOU say is good enough.
Thanks for all the helps
