puchased a game for a friend on Humble, now it's bound to me
so I bought digimon story cyber sleuth on humble for a friend and I because of their flash sale. But since humble wouldn't let me just copy the redeem code to give to her, it's bound to me twice, and I'm having a panic atack because i just want to contact support but they make it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impossible to contact them and I just flushed that money down the toilet

This is not a Steam issue.

Keys are permanently bound to your account.

If you registered the game on your account, then that's it.

You should have just copied the key from the humblebundle website and give it to the recipient, or via the humblebundle "gift" function (which I assume is still there).

the humble redeem page always has 2 buttons, 1 for yourself, and 1 to gift it.

Only GOG and Epic games must be redeemed directly to an account. Humble hasnt' allowed direct redemption to a steam account in like 5 years

First of all you can't redeem the same game twice, steam won't let you. So if you redeemed it twice it was 2 different codes for different content.

Secondly nothing Steam can do, your only hope is to contact Humble and see if they can revoke the key and refund you as its not a steam issue.

Nope that story is full of more holes than a sponge.

Humble both provides an option to mark a purchase as a gift to get a direct link to send to the person you want to give it to and allows you to copy the redeem codes to put wherever you want.

I suggest next time you want to try pulling a sob story about something not being your fault you don't use such a well known and heavily used site as the one you try lying about.

and the "oh this is a gift" option required knowing her email

No it doesn't. It creates a link that is used for gifting. It doesn't require the email, and again you can't redeem a game you already own unless it contains new content.

Either way steam can't do anything, only humble can if your lucky

One could always just copy the key (select it and then CTRL+C) and paste it in an email.

Nothing for you to get support on regarding Steam, though. You redeemed a key on an account, there is nothing one can do about that anymore. Steam support doesn't transfer keys and since you purchased it on a 3rd party site, you can't get a refund either.

The purchase page might be linked to you.
But you could copy paste the key if you uncovered it, and send it to your friend in chat.

no, purchasing it there was a field for "this is a gift" which made it "enter recipient's email"

I have not redeemed the code. I had TRIED to send the code in the first place. The CODE is bound to me.

All you can do is dependent on the terms in Humble.

If you bought this and didn't check the bought as a gift(or bought both in a bundle and they didn't differentiate between the two, say) then all you can do is contact their support and ask.

Nothing to do here

That button is only there on checkout. Making a purchase on Humble doesn't bind the game to your Steam account, it puts the game key in the Keys section on your Humble account.

Just go to that part of the Humble store and copy the key for your friend on the redeem page.

yeah, how many times do I have to repeat myself? it is BOUND TO ME. I DID NOT REDEEM IT. I got the code, and "bound to thompse412" when I ALREADY TRIED to copy the key to give to my friend.

You have to take your issue up with humble bundle. Far as I know they stop with the auto sync years ago for whatever reason, and haven't brought it back at all, and I know this because I been buying from humble bundle for years.

You're suppose to get a key, which you click reveal, and then you can give that key to your friend. If you smash that REDEEM button, then smash CLAIM button on Steam then you know what you did wrong.

Heck if you wanted to gift the game, you could've done it right from the start as well.

This is how it will appar under when looking for keys.

Or when view your order it shows like this as well.

This is how it looks when you click the button for reveal, and then showing green button that you can click afterwards to redeem it if you wanted on Steam account, it will take you to steam website, and input key, and has a check box you have to check, and a button you need to click redeem to add to account.

https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey?key= <--- Key get added on end of this when click the green redeem button.
