Steam download always pauses when laptop idle - checked power settings
With my 2mbps download speed it takes weeks to download games, so I leave my laptop plugged in and lid closed and make sure Steam is downloading before I close the lid. I have all of my power settings to never sleep when plugged in, and I'm pretty sure my laptop doesn't go to sleep. When I open the lid, I see the Windows 10 hello screen instantly and when I use my fingerprint to login all of my apps are running and responsive instantly, no delays as if it was asleep. However, the Steam download hasn't made much progress at all, maybe it ran for 10 to 30 minutes, and the download page always shows "download scheduled for 10:00am" where 10:00am is 1 minute from the current time, and then the download resumes at that time (or instantly if I click to force it to start now).

I've followed all of the advice I have found about going to to device manager and Windows settings to ensure everything that says anything about disable/sleep to save power is set to never sleep and never save power, yet something must be going to sleep, or maybe it is just Steam? I turned off any bandwidth throttle options and auto update windows in Steam, and even tried setting it to allow downloads while games are running.

ASUS Rog Zephyrus G14 Laptop
Windows 10 Home

I'm mostly looking for advice on how to troubleshoot this. Are there any Windows Event logs or Steam Technical logs that I can enable and find to figure out why Steam does not continue downloading? I didn't have this problem with my desktop PC, so I don't think it is a Steam problem per-se, but Steam is the only thing I leave running all the time and the only thing I am having problems with that I want to troubleshoot. Laptop has no visible lights with lid closed, so I can't watch for any activity lights.

Well you did not get all of them , because then it will work, ( i'm laptop user and know it work on mine ) could it be Screen saver ?, do note some laptop have switch then lid is near close to force a shutdown/hibernation whatever goes , do note i know it work i have app run 24/7 that crunching some cancer and return the result , so two things change screen save to 1 minute and other what ever it is so you can nail it or ID it what cause this steam to goto windows login.

do not have HDD on sleep and network maybe ?

and 10 to 30 minute , that should be easy to test, dont think its a steam issue at all its idle or afk issue you have. ( and 1 minute if screen save doing it will be a dead give away )

As Iceira says, there's still some you're obviously missing.

Do note not all settings are in the usual one Windows place. There's some under disc drive properties too.

They're the usual two that do this - the general power savings menu in windows and the drive specific properties.
