But since i know the answer to your question, no you can never have more then 4 mecha in your lance deploy during a mission. Its a hard limit. You can have more mecha and swap them out and put others in storage but 4 units is the limit for the entire game during any mission.
It also owe some of its changes to MWO.
its a very distant cousin not a closely related game to any of the previous mech warrior games.
While, yes, it's an adaptation of the tabletop rules, with various things taken from more modern stuff. . . standard tabletop matches in the late 80's edition were 4 on 4. That's certainly how 90% of all the home games and convention/tournament games I played were.
There's a super cool mod/overhaul called RogueTech that allows you to field more than 4 units, I believe. You can even use tanks, from what I've read. I planned on downloading it after I complete the campaign.
the vehicle types include tanks ,vtols and a variety of other vehicles. over 2500 mech types and over 1200 vehicles are all part of Rogue Tech.
On top of that it provides the full inner sphere map to explore. More custom events. a much more detailed mech lab with a ton of equipment, upgrades, weapons, ammo types etc...
Only downside is with all that stuff the load times are a bit long.
AI can't move all their mechs is due to "initiative".
light mechs got the highest initiative, medium mechs, their initiative is 2nd to light mechs.
heavy mechs is 3rd, assault mech is the lowest in initiative.
if enemy got 2 heavy mechs and 2 assault mechs, the heavy mechs will go first then will it be the assault mechs next.
so your complain about "AI can't move all the mechs at same time" is wrong as you failed to take "initiative" into account OP.
