NEED HELP installing a game without disc drive on my laptop
I have ordered Total War Rome 2 from a local game store but I completely forgot that I don't have a disc drive on my laptop. Is there another way to install the game?

One could buy an external usb DVD drive and only connect it during such 'emergencies' as this.

If the CD key works on Steam, you wont need a DVD player.

Ones it is in your Steam library, you can install it anywhere from your account using your account.

Thank both of you for your help!

I can virtually guarantee you that even if you had a disk it wouldn't have run the game anyway, since if it has any form of updates or is 'on steam', it has to download the whole game from Steam already.

Tip for the future.

Get yourself a cheap USB DVD drive. They're as cheap as chips and are incredibly useful.

My latest laptop had no drive but of course, I like to use older games, and use a lot of audio software and music to mess around with.
I bought a cheapo ASUS one from Amazon for less than £20.

Even cheaper idea: buy an extremely cheap internal DVD drive, then buy an extremely cheap IDE+SATA to USB universal converter. Total price will usually equal out to that of an external DVD drive, and now you also have an extremely handy tool for turning any internal drive into an external one.

Fine if you can find them cheap enough. As I said though, I bought one from ASUS on Amazon for twenty quid. I never found anything that close for separate.

There's also another reason I suggested this way - for the future. It's easier to have a all-in-one solution like that for the future when less and less drives are vailable and you want to do something on your next PC.

You should ALWAYS have a IDE/SATA USB converter those things are life savers. :D

I would add that what I did (ever being the cheap arse), was to dismantle an old USB external drive and pilfered it out of there.

Guys, thank you all for your help. Fortunately there's a steam activation code! Definitely I am going to buy a IDE/SATA USB converter.

Oh good to know that you got a complete and steam-downloadable copy :)

now hopefully it will run on your laptop :) But the good part is, if it's registered on Steam, it's 100% yours and can be installed on any computer capable of running it.
