Any way I can add a Microsoft Store game to my Steam Library?
I recently bought Gears of War Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 via the Microsoft Store. Wasn't anywhere near my first choice of where to get the game, but for whatever stupid reason Epic doesn't have the original Gears games on their barely functional Steam ripoff (sorry to any and all fans of the Epic Games Store) and they aren't on Steam either so it seems like the only way to play the original Gears 1 on PC.

Whenever I buy a new game on PC I always add it to my Steam library, even if its not on Steam. I just prefer to be able to launch all of my games from the same place without having to have a bunch of shortcuts clogging up my desktop.

Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to do that with this one, the folder it installed the game in was freaking locked and I had to fiddle with security permissions just to open it; once I did there wasn't an executable of any kind to be found.

Is there any way for me to find an EXE so I can add it to my Steam Library? I really don't wanna have to open the Windows Start Menu every time just for one game, literally everything else I play on PC I launch directly from Steam

Aside from what you've already tried, about all you can do is to make a shortcut to the MS launcher in Steam.

Or there may be another different way - have you considered using Playnite? It's a really simple, easy to use front end games launcher that'll accommodate Steam, GOG, Origina and a whole load of others so you can launch things in one place.

You can use UWPHook, its designed ot work with their games and its what I use to link all the gamepass games so I can launch them from Steam - https://briano.dev/UWPHook/

While that works, be aware that Steam Overlay does NOT work with Microsoft Store games added that way.
So no taking of screenshots or using the Steam chat during gameplay.
Sadly a technical restriction with how Microsoft has setup their games on their store.

I don't really mind not being able to use the Steam overlay, I never use it for any games that're actually on Steam and I honest forget about it when I'm playing a non-Steam game through my Steam Library

Tbh the only Steam-exclusive feature I ever really wish could work on non-Steam games is play time, I like being able to track how many hours I've poured into a certain game lol
