Use a browser or open them in new windows to add back to the cart after removing them.
It's designed to be the place you are wishing to buy NOW. Not leave it and pick at it piecemeal. I know many people use it as a kind of wishlist, but if you want to buy some and leave others, your best bet is to stick the ones you don't want now on your wishlist, or simply scribble them down on a note.
I think it's largely because it's a different beast - all goods on here are digital software. For the majority, such a feature would be pointless. So I guess that's why.
It would be nice to have more options though.
